Caring well for educators is one of the most student-centered commitments a school or leader or district can make. When the adults in the building feel valued, safe, and cared for, that will always trickle down to better care for students and families. And I am not talking about a slogan in a strategic plan. I am talking about actions that reflect care and build belonging. Trusting teachers to do their job. Paying educators a wage that reflects their training and expertise. Valuing, hearing and listening to the ideas that teachers have about policy and procedure. Elevating the profession back to a level of respect that it warrants. It takes time. It takes fiscal resources. It takes trust. It is the long game. But it is wroth the effort and investment. I am grateful for organizations like Pure Edge, Inc. & leaders like Chi Kim for continuing to elevate teacher care. ❤️
Today we celebrate the birthday of our CEO, Chi Kim! Chi shares the deeply held belief that the adults who show up for our youth deserve care, too. Her mission-driven, heart-centered approach and visionary leadership positively impact thousands of youth and adults every year. As 2024 nears its close, the Pure Edge team is reminded of how grateful we are for the opportunity to do this work alongside likeminded colleagues.

🚀 Leadership in Action: Lessons from the Las Vegas Aces 🏀 Has anyone else been on a WNBA kick lately? I can’t get enough this season. Although they’re not my favorite team in the league, I’ve loved the display of leadership from the Las Vegas Aces this season. In particular, their ability to bring every team member into the fold, including rookie Kate Martin. It feels like a shining example of how to build your junior team members up while maintaining a winning culture. 🎓 Finding The Right Talent Kate Martin, a former player from the University of Iowa, was not expected to be selected in the 2024 WNBA draft. Yet, the Las Vegas Aces saw something special in her and made the bold decision to bring her on board, eventually giving her a spot on the team, citing her work ethic and competitive spirit, among other traits. 🤝 Embracing New Talent Veteran leaders like A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum have been pivotal in integrating Kate into the team. They’ve publicly embraced and recognized her eagerness to grow, ability to learn quickly, and dedication as a team player. 🌟 Celebrating Wins From celebrating her victories on the court during games to recognizing her efforts in practice, the Aces have made it clear that Kate’s success is their success. This approach boosts morale and fosters a strong sense of belonging. 🤗 Building Team Culture From day one, the Aces have included Kate in their team culture and camaraderie. Moments like this locker room walk-out video exemplify how the team has embraced her, ensuring she feels like a valued member from the start. 💡 Takeaway Bringing junior team members into your organization isn’t just about filling a role; it’s about integrating them into the fabric of your team. Recognizing and celebrating their strengths, fostering mentorship, and building a supportive culture set the stage for individual and collective success. Let's take a page from the Las Vegas Aces' playbook and champion a winning culture through inclusive and supportive leadership. 🏆 #Leadership #TeamCulture #Mentorship #WinningTogether #LasVegasAces #KateMartin #WNBA

This is the joy of teaching if you are permitted to put the students first and not the tuition revenues. When a post-secondary institution is interested in the tuition revenues to achieve other goals you do not get to ensure the achievement of a student because there is not sufficient time to properly assist each student. We really must revisit the purpose of post-secondary education in Canada. Is it to be a revenue generating industry? Is it to ensure the student achieves their dreams and Canada develops a workforce ready for tomorrow and capable of critical thinking? The choice is ours as taxpayers to determine.

IDENTITY SHAPER Identity work begins in childhood. Our perspectives around who we are and what we can do is being impacted by our environments. This video shows the impact of the environments around us. It shows how bias can limit or even block the potential in others, it this case our girls! We have a choice to support identity work that will build future leaders to be inclusive and support everyone in belonging. We can close the #dreamgap for our children and also close the gap in our organizations. It’s never to early or to late to grow. This gap is not just about our future generation… it’s impacting millions of adults as well. Let’s do the identity work. At IDENTITY DYNAMICS we support leaders in doing the identity work to develop their leadership effectiveness. Day 2: Holiday Leadership Lessons - Is your team as ecstatic to see you as Buddy the Elf was to see Santa? Okay.......maybe we can't expect them to jump up and down and scream your name, but we can be a leader that people are excited to be around! What leadership traits can we learn from Santa: 🎅 Santa had a CLEAR MISSION and VISION of spreading joy and he INSPIRED others to do the same. 🎅 Santa's success depended on his elves and his reindeer. He DELEGATED important tasks, EMPOWERED his team, and TRUSTED it would be done. 🎅 Santa shows up every year without fail! He is CONSISTENT in his actions. 🎅 Santa tailors each gift and personalizes each interaction. He UNDERSTANDS the STRENGTHS of his team and places them in the right spot, just like putting Rudolph right up front with his shiny nose. 🎅 Santa is delivering millions of gifts each year, which takes a lot of PLANNING, and ADAPTABILITY so he can handle unforeseen challenges. 🎅 Santa exudes WARMTH, KINDNESS and POSITIVITY, and the elves felt valued and appreciated. Be a leader that fosters a spirit of collaboration, trust, and joy, and maybe someone will be as excited to see you as Buddy the Elf was to see Santa. https://lnkd.in/e98g2zrX

It is time to celebrate! When was the last time you celebrated a win with your Team? It’s easy to focus on what is missing, what was not achieved or lost projects. But what about the accomplishments, the efforts, the work done? A strong team should celebrate milestones and achievements together, in order to: ❇️ Foster unity ❇️ Boost morale ❇️ Increase motivation With these sunny days, no more excuses to raise your glass (of water, wine or champagne, let's stay hydrated) to glorify your Team! So, what are you going to celebrate? #teamwork #teamspirit
