👩💼👨💼 Back to the Office: A Double-Edged Sword ⚔️ As we witness major global events and the opening of new, sustainable, and collaborative office spaces, there's more to consider beneath the surface. Modern workplaces can spark creativity and foster community, but a "one-size-fits-all" approach is pushing many employees to resign due to family obligations or long, stressful commutes, often without severance support. Those unable to easily adapt are left vulnerable. The growing trend of employee monitoring only adds to the pressure. Constant oversight creates a culture of anxiety rather than collaboration, impacting overall wellness. In a world where flexibility and work-life balance are essential, is the return to the office truly improving productivity and teamwork? Many employees seek alignment with their company’s values, but when profits are placed above people, disillusionment sets in, leading to disengagement. After all, a thriving workforce is the engine of innovation and success. 💼 What are your thoughts on this shift back to the office? #BackToOffice #EmployeeWellbeing #MentalHealth #WorkplaceCulture #Sustainability #Consulting #ImpactThatMatters

#officepeacocking: Why is it important to rethink workplace priorities? The term "office peacocking" is making rounds, highlighting the trend of 'dressing up' office spaces to entice employees back to the workplace. Let's pause and reflect: is this truly a trend, or just a quick fix/superficial solution for deeper workplace issues? If organizations are relying on superficial makeovers to lure employees back, they might be missing the mark. Sure, a cool office can be a motivator, but it shouldn't overshadow what truly matters. Flexibility isn't just about comfy couches; it's about trust, respect, and understanding individual needs and circumstances. While some may crave the office vibe, others prioritize remote work for various reasons, from childcare, eldercare to personal preferences. Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, let's invest in initiatives that truly support employees: mental health resources, skill development opportunities, support for women's health, diversity and inclusion efforts, fair career advancement opportunities, and pay parity among others. Let's aim for workplaces that prioritize people over peacocking and shift the conversation from peacocking to prioritizing what truly matters in the workplace. #officepeacocking #rethinkworkplacepriorities #employeewellbeing #inclusiveworkplaces #coffeebadging #hybridwork #remotework #flexibilitymatters

Tear down the walls-the open office enthusiasts said - and watch collaboration flourish. But what did we actually get? A noise-filled stress and distraction factory where productivity plummets, introverts suffer, and sensory-sensitive neurodivergent talent is excluded.😱😱 1. Collaboration Actually Decreases. Large-sample studies of employees of multinational companies have found that face-to-face interaction dropped by 70% when employees moved to open layouts. 😑💻 2. Stress Increases. A study conducted in Australia found that after just eight minutes in an open office, workers’ negative mood increased by 25% and their sweat response (a physiological marker of stress) jumped by 34%. 😖 3. Sick days increase. A study of 2,403 employees in Denmark found that sickness absence is significantly related to the type of office space. Employees in two-person offices took 50% more sick days than people in private offices, and those in open-plan offices missed 62% more. 🤒 And, of course, introverts and sensory-sensitive people suffer more than others. Check out the latest article by my Recognized Expert Community colleague, Ludmila Praslova, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, Âû regarding why open work environments don't work especially for those workers who are neurodiverse. I appreciate the work being done to better understand the challenges facing the neurodiverse community and to support the creation of environments that not only support this segment of the workforce but also improve productivity and well-being. #neurodiverse #workforce #workplacewellness #healthcare #recognizedexpert #accomplishmentculture #leadership

As a leader, I consider it important to know the working conditions of my team members and how balanced their mental, physical, and social states are. 💼 Since the pandemic, hybrid work has taken a back seat, with most of my employees working from home. 🏡 Remote work can pose challenges: assessing employees' physical condition 📋 monitoring the work environment 🖥️ maintaining strong social connections 🤝 receiving personal feedback about their well-being 📝 Excellent working conditions promote the company's productivity. In my opinion, investing in our team's happiness is key to long-term success. 🌱 In light of this, I wanted to contribute not only with team-building events to their social and mental health but also prioritized physical well-being this year by launching the HOT program (Home Office Tender). In the first quarter, colleagues were able to apply for ergonomic office furniture and equipment according to their personal needs, providing everyone with the opportunity to create an ergonomic office setup in their own homes. 💪 This came to mind now because I reflected on where and why the movement started in the late 19th century, precisely aiming to create employee well-being. 🚀 Happy Labor Day! 🌟 #LaborDay #RemoteWork #EmployeeWellbeing #HOTProgram #TYPO3 #TYPO3community"

As someone who is sensory sensitive, open offices can be really, really tough. At times, I find my anxiety levels hard to control when multiple conversations are happening around me. If you find yourself in this environment, I have found that Loop earplugs allow me to be present and decrease overstimulation. When able, I use headphones to listen to lo-fi beats and other calming music. And if you feel comfortable, ask those around you to reduce the unnecessary noise. If you have decision-making power, balance open and closed spaces to allow collaboration spaces and quiet offices. https://lnkd.in/ghYsD4fG
