‘Tis the season for giving, and the winter Color Guard is hoping you can extend some holiday cheer our way.The Mountainside winter program gives our color guard members an opportunity to stay “in-tune” between the fall marching band seasons. The winter guard creates a theatrical and artistic program to perform at local competitions from January through April. Not only does the winter season give the students a chance to stay in-shape and hone their skills, but it also perpetuates the essential lessons introduced in marching band: self-reliance, discipline, leadership skills, and work ethic. The success of the winter color guard program can positively position the color guard for later success in the fall marching band season. As our winter program continues to grow and improve, our financial demands have increased. Although our program is partially supported through members' fees, additional funds are needed for staffing, production design, equipment, uniforms/costumes, competition entries, and all the operational aspects of the organization. We have an amazing program planned for the 2025 season, but we need your help! That's why we’re reaching out to ask if you could please consider making a donation to support our team.Any contribution, no matter the size, will have a meaningful impact. These are examples of ways that your donation supports our 2025 season:$650 covers one activity fee$35 covers one flag$135 covers one costumeTo show your support:go to https://lnkd.in/gJH-eqcU email to fundraising@mountainsidebands.org. Please note: Your donation to the Mountainside Winter Guard program is 100% tax-deductible

Always fun to learn what is coming into your community, yet even better when you help build connections as businesses work to get established in your community. That’s what is going on here with the sharing of ideas, energy and resources for this school coming to Apex! What can we do for your business? #BuildingConnectingInspiring #GrowingCommunity #SharingResources
Great meeting with Michele Bandy of Grace Christian School and Katie McMillan who volunteers with Grace Christian. Did you know that this school that currently operates in Raleigh and Cary is consolidating by moving the entire system to Apex? It will be located just north of US 1 off Veridea Parkway. Based on the renderings, this will be a great campus that allows for more classroom space and to have all grade levels represented on one campus. Not to mention all of the amenities and special touches that will be worked into the design. Still time for you to be involved in the naming or donating to help them meet their fundraising goal (reach out directly to Michele). Can’t wait for this to become a reality by being built. #LetsChamber

Empathy is the ability to imagine someone else’s experience. What is one way we can teach children this life altering character trait? Books can be amazing in the sense that they can be a window into someone’s world or experience. Books allow children the opportunity to “see” what life would be like as someone else. Books can also act as a mirror by allowing children to see themselves in the story. As publishers, we provide these experiences by producing a large variety of people in our books! We think it’s super important for children to have books that allow them these opportunities to learn about other cultures, homes, families and more! We also love for them to see themselves in a book. How do we do this as a Book Bank? We make sure there are diverse books in our collections. If we don’t have ample books, we use money that was fundraised to purchase used books. This Giving Tuesday (December 3rd), we invite you to take your impact to the next level by joining our 3 for $1 campaign. For every $1 donated, three gently used books will go into the hands of a child here in Metro Detroit, creating endless opportunities and access! We have one more small request, please share this email with your friends, family and colleagues! Please consider donating today. Even if it’s just $1! If you would rather pick out a book for a child, we have an Amazon Wish List that features the most popular books that we give out at Free Book Fairs. https://lnkd.in/gT6pNfVC

Summer should be a time of discovery and growth, but transportation barriers often stand in the way for many youths in our community. They need a lift to reach literacy camps, theatre programs, sports camps, and math corps camps—vital opportunities for their development. That’s where our M1 Mobility program steps in, and we need your help to make it happen! Here’s how your donations can directly impact the lives of these young people: 🚗 Expand Service Reach: With your help, we can ensure over 2,500 rides this summer, allowing more youths to access essential learning and growth opportunities. 🚗 Support Consistent Access: Reliable transportation ensures that no opportunity is missed due to lack of a ride. 🚗 Build Brighter Futures: Every ride is a step towards acquiring new skills, enhancing education, and forging stronger community ties. Your support means we can drive forward, not just by giving a ride, but by investing in the futures of Pontiac’s youth. Let's help them get where they need to go and grow! 👉 Donate today and fuel their journey to success! https://lnkd.in/ejsJcBx9 Let's drive positive change together! Join us in ensuring that no youth is left behind due to a lack of transportation. #YouthEmpowerment #M1Mobility #DonateToday #PontiacCommunity

We donated $135 after our first fundraiser. And it was easy AND fun. 1. The non-profit applied for a fundraiser. Takes 2 minutes. 2. We reviewed their application and created a game plan with them 3. We sent them a link for their supporters to purchase day passes (rentals not included). Every day pass sold ($17), goes towards their project. 4. Day of the fundraiser, 9 people signed up and climbed 5. The next day we sent a check for $135 It was easy and fun. Do you have a non-profit you support that have projects that need some extra $? Maybe it's a sports team, PTA, or somewhere you volunteer. *If you can do math, 9 x 17 doesn't equal $135. It was our first one and their supporters were college students. So we changed it to $15 and included rentals. B/c you know. Broke college students 🙃

#NorthTexasGivingDay2024 can be a lot. Here's the checklist I'm consulting on this very busy (and sometimes noisy) day. ✅ Support what’s most important to you. ✅ Remember that your generosity helps smaller organizations in particular make a bigger impact. ✅ You can always add a dedication to your gift, which effectively makes it two gifts. ✅ Try to be a first-time donor to at least one area non-profit. ✅ Consider spreading the word about the causes you've chosen to support. ✅ Feel good about doing good in your community. For me, The Writer's Garret ticks a lot of those boxes. (Full disclosure: I am serve on the organization's Board). If it ticks boxes for you, too, please know (or remember) that I'm accepting donations via my personal fundraising page. https://lnkd.in/gxHdnmiF Make a gift of at least $10 and I will pay it forward by: 1) helping to match your donation; 2) emailing you a free packet of 150 creative writing prompts. Thank you!

This Holiday Season, Give the Gift of Joy on Two Wheels The holiday season is about more than gifts—it’s about creating moments of joy, memories that last, and opportunities for every child to experience the magic of the season. This year, you can help make that magic happen by donating to an incredible cause: providing bikes to kids in need. For many children, a bike isn’t just a toy; it’s a symbol of freedom, adventure, and confidence. It’s the chance to explore their world, join in with friends, and feel the wind on their face as they ride into new possibilities. Sadly, not every child gets to experience this joy. But you can change that. Your donation will help put bikes under Christmas trees for kids who might not otherwise receive gifts this year. It’s more than a present—it’s an investment in a child’s happiness, health, and independence. Every dollar counts. Whether you’re able to contribute $10, $50, or more, your support makes a tangible difference. Together, we can ensure no child is left out of the joy of the holiday season. Let’s pedal toward something extraordinary. Donate today and give a child the gift of freedom, adventure, and happiness. 🎁 https://gofund.me/1b9826dd 💖 Share this post to spread the word and keep the wheels of kindness turning! Let’s make this a holiday to remember—for all the right reasons.
A comment, like, or share costs nothing and takes only a second of your time to help us bring a smile to one more kid! I am excited to support the Divine Purpose Toy Drive, which aims to give away 200 bikes this Christmas in Southern Louisiana! A big thank you to Mattress Firm for sponsoring several dozen bikes, and a special shoutout to our CRO, Jody Putnam, for being the first to personally donate on our GoFundMe page! It’s thrilling to be part of a culture that gives back. Please consider donating $10 or $100 today to help us purchase bikes for children in need! Every dollar counts! I still remember Christmas when I was 6 years old, receiving my red bike, complete with a matching red helmet and no training wheels! #MattressFirm #GivesBack #DivinePurpose #Louisiana #ToyDrive #LoneStarEast

I promise I'll post about my actual job (we have a new video to share about Mainframe mod and GenAI!) but as summer winds to a close I wanted to share a charity opportunity related to Golf: https://lnkd.in/g2i6mqfG Ultimately this is about helping kids lead healthier lives and is related to the amazing work that Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have done across the world to help kids heal and thrive with their Play Yellow initiative. My Wife Ashley and her colleague Kelli are going to play 72 holes of golf in one day and they are going to make it rain birdies. If you have a bit of a gambling mindset, you can make a donation based on the number of birdies they're going to make. You can also make an up-front donation. Note that this is focused on Colorado - ask your local pro if something is happening near you! Why is this on LinkedIn? Two reasons - first - this is really the only social media I do. I do so little I don't know if this actually counts as social media. Second - having married a professional golfer I've learned a lot about golf that has surprised me. Watching Ashley and her friends and colleagues navigate a male-dominated world (5% of PGA professionals are women. 5%!) is in many ways a clearer lens to the same challenges we see in technology. The backlash we've seen in some pockets of the world against fostering inclusion - one person's opinion here - ignores the reality that a diversity of thought and opinion makes teams better. Here's a golf example - when you're taking a golf lesson, you are incredibly vulnerable and it can be intimidating - no single approach works for everyone. Finding a coach that resonates with you (and this can be especially hard for women coming to the game, or children wanting to learn) is critical to your experience. There is not a long line to draw between this phenomenon and what we see in technology as leaders, mentors and peers. Also, golf is fundamentally a game of integrity - I've seen remarkable examples of leadership and integrity on the course (look up "Sahith Theegala penalty" for an unbelievable example recently) and again it reminds me of all the things we try to do as leaders and professionals in business. I've always liked the phrase "integrity is what happens when no one is looking" and if golf can help me and others to model that, there's more to the game than I thought. Let me close by saying - for those in the Northern Hemisphere - enjoy the last gasps of summer, whatever brings you outside to do so!
On Tuesday, September 24th, I will be participating in the inaugural Colorado PGA Birdie Bash fundraiser event to raise funds for PGA REACH Colorado and Children's Hospital Colorado. I, alongside other Colorado PGA Professionals, will play 72 holes of golf in one day at The Ranch Country Club in an attempt to make as many birdies as possible! Please consider making a pledge per birdie to support these impactful organizations. YOUR GIFT MATTERS and will help us reach our goal of raising $110,000! To make a pledge, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gWWgpdNi
