Great interview with M. Dolores Cimini, Ph.D.,in Clinical Psychology Director & Senior Research Scientist, Center for Behavioral Health Promotion and Applied Research University at Albany. “Mental health and substance use/addiction providers could help close the existing treatment gap by routinely screening all their clients for substance use and thereby identifying those engaging in risky use that could lead to future problems or a substance use disorder. It is critical for individuals working in the helping professions to proactively seek training addressing substance use so that they can meet these increasing demands.” #AddictionSpecialist #MentalHealth #SubstanceAbuseCounseling #AddictionRecovery #HealthcareCareers #MentalHealthAwareness #Counseling #BehavioralHealth #AddictionTreatment #HealthcareEducation

I’m looking for guidance from child psychologists, adolescent development experts, or anyone who works closely with young people to suggest words and adaptations that would make this scale more relevant and effective for this age group. 🎉 I'm excited to share that I’ve completed my MSc in Clinical Applications of Psychology with a higher merit at the University of Hull ! My dissertation, "Early Maladaptive Schemas in Eating Disorders: Autistic vs. Typically Developed Adults," explored how early schemas impact eating behaviors and mental health in different neurotypes. Diving into the unique challenges and resilience factors in autistic individuals, I aimed to highlight both their support needs and strengths. This research was particularly rewarding as it underscores the importance of tailored, inclusive approaches to mental health care. Throughout my studies, I had the privilege of working with amazing mentors—Prof. Tjeerd Jellema, Marie Ried, and Richard Hammersley—whose insights and support were invaluable. Their guidance helped shape my understanding of complex psychological issues and motivated me to think critically about how we can better support diverse populations. Now, with this degree in hand, I’m eager to transition into the mental health sector, where I hope to apply my academic insights to practical, compassionate support for those in need. If anyone has advice or opportunities in the mental health field, I would love to connect and discuss ways to make a positive impact! #MentalHealth #Psychology #UniversityOfHull #MScGraduate #ClinicalPsychology #Neurodiversity #EatingDisorders #MentalHealthSupport #InclusiveCare #AutismAwareness #MentalHealthCareers #PsychologyResearch #GraduateLife #JobSeeking

Psychology assistants pose a danger to patients and a dumbing down of the psychology workforce. ACPA and the Institute of Clinical Psychologists are concerned by unflagged announcements in last night's Federal Budget which could point to the use of an unskilled workforce. #federalbudget #budget2024 #clinicalpsychology #psychologists #mentalhealth
