ALERT: Changes to ARM and CPCU Exam Question Format I have heard reports that some students have encountered non-multiple choice questions on the real exam, similar to what you see on the simulated exam. I never saw any announcement about this change from The Institutes. I have a call into The Institutes to get more info, but appreciate hearing from you in the meantime. For those who encountered these non-multiple choice questions: Which exam did you take and on what date? Besides the standard single-answer multiple choice questions, what kinds of these types of questions did you get and about how many of each? A) Fill in the blank B) Drag and drop C) Multi-choice multiple choice questions (where you had to select ALL the right answers rather than just ONE right answer) D) Other (please describe) Did you receive or see any announcement about this change? My biggest concern is for the fill in the blank questions, where you might get the wrong answer if you misspell something but clearly had the right idea. I appreciate any feedback you can provide. I will be writing a detailed blog post once I hear back from you and The Institutes. Please email me at erikeyoung@armstudygroup.com.

When is the best time to sit MRCGP Simulated Consultation Assessment (SCA)? It's not just about reserving a date. It’s about choosing a time when you're primed to showcase your best skills. Let’s break down how you can find that sweet spot for your exam, with a little help from those who’ve been in your shoes and aced it. Be Fully Prepared: Picture the SCA as your big moment, stepping up as a fully qualified GP. You’ll want to pick a time when you can independently handle whatever the exam throws at you, shining as the competent professional you are. Plan Around Your Life: Real life doesn't pause for exams. Dr. Reema, for instance, sidestepped scheduling conflicts with Ramadan, choosing a time to take her exam when she wasn’t fasting. This kind of strategic planning lets you focus fully on your exam prep without extra worries. Check Your Experience Level: Timing your exam right means making sure you’ve got the right amount of hands-on experience. Jump in too early, and you might not hit your full stride; wait too long, and you could start overthinking it. When you’re deciding when to take your SCA, think about where you stand both professionally and personally. Aligning these aspects will help you hit the mark, ready to ace the assessment and step forward as a confident GP. Good luck—this is your time to shine!
