The best sales teams are closing 40% - 50% of their opportunities. The average teams are closing 22%. What separates the best teams from the average? They have a process that they apply to every opportunity, every time. With the same level of enthusiasm and effort. The formula is simple: Lead Quality + Messaging + Effort + Process = Results I learned this lesson the hard way in 2018. We were stuck converting 20% of our opportunities to customers. We had great leads. We had the right messaging. Our team was putting in the work with tons of enthusiasm. But we weren't getting the results. I couldn't figure out how to get our close rate up. The piece I was missing: a consistent sales process. Then we implemented a real sales process and applied it to every opportunity. In 2019 our opportunity conversion rate went as high as 50%. You can close more customers from your current pipeline with a more consistent sales process. I'm running a workshop in a couple of weeks to show you a sales process that increases your conversion rate. Come join us on April 16 at 2p ET: https://lu.ma/et7p87wu

The Secret to Consistent Sales Success? Follow a Proven Sales Cycle 🔄 As a salesperson, you know that closing deals aren't as simple as making one pitch. There's an entire journey both you and the buyer go through before getting to that final "closed-won" stage. This journey is known as the sales cycle, and having a structured process to follow is crucial for efficient selling. A well-defined sales cycle: ✅ Provides clarity for both sides on what to expect ✅ Allows better pipeline management and forecasting ✅ Keeps opportunities advancing smoothly From initial prospecting to negotiating the deal, each stage has specific objectives and deliverables for the seller and buyer. Does your sales process feel scattered or are you leaving things to chance? If so, read our latest blog post to learn the typical phases of an effective sales cycle and what to offer/gather at every step. Check it out here:https://buff.ly/4aVXJ0y

I have built and brought $500M in sales for my clients. Working with the top Founders and CEOs in the world, the last 30 years have taught me everything I know about sales. Here are 7 best sales practices I learned the hard way: 1. Always serve what’s in the best interest of your prospect. 2. Always send a proposal after you have the confirmation to review it live with your prospect. 3. Listen carefully. Instead of forcing the sale, focus on evaluating your prospect’s buying language. 4. Every rejection is not a dead end. If your prospect is within your Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM), check the right time to follow up and reach out again. 5. Always qualify your prospects before you get on a call with them. You wouldn’t want to end the call knowing they can’t afford you. 6. Always align your pitch with your prospects’s demands and pain points. 7. Find the urgency from your prospect’s perspective. If it’s not there, curate it. If you cannot, move on. Over the past several years, we at Sales Xceleration have built what is called the Sales Agility Assessment. Irrespective of what stage you are at in your business, this assessment will help you evaluate and improve your current sales process. Once you take the assessment, you will be able to use your unique report to implement the new procedures that will accelerate your growth and revenue. Why do some sales teams seem unstoppable while others spin their wheels? Here’s a surprising truth: Thriving teams are more than skilled—they’re united by a purpose they believe in. Every. Single. Day. Imagine this…🤔 A sales team that doesn’t just KNOW your values—they live and breathe them. 💗 A cohesive, motivated team that feels personally invested in every sale because they believe in the impact it has. 🎯 A culture where everyone sees themselves as an important part of the customer’s journey. 🙌 📊 Here’s what the data says: Our recent study found that when team members feel aligned with a company’s vision, productivity can increase by up to 30%. That’s the power of shared purpose. And it’s more than just productivity. It’s about creating relationships with customers who feel the authenticity in every interaction, leading to loyalty, referrals, and growth that lasts. So, if you’re looking to build a high-performing team, start with alignment. Build a vision that inspires. Hire for shared values, not just skills. Foster a culture of purpose-driven sales. Don't bother reading this post if you have all the sales you want and are hitting all your revenue goals. If not, here's a great exercise I do with my clients that allows them to reflect on the entire sales function of their team. Ask yourself these questions: 1. I have a single person accountable for sales in my business Y/N 2. We have a clear marketing strategy, we know our ideal customers and what to say to them. Y/N 3. We have a clear sales process, it is documented and followed by all Y/N 4. Our sales culture and approach have been defined Y/N 5. We are managing the numbers that drive the key sales activities early in the sales process Y/N 6. All our customer facing people are the right people Y/N 7. Our minimum standards are clear with all our salespeople Y/N How did you stack up?

Daily Sales Lesson #20/365 🔍Inspect What You Expect🔎 Assumptions in sales is a killer. And you may be thinking, “I don’t make assumptions.” But I have never met a salesperson (guilty 🙋♂️) who didn’t make too many assumptions. All of us assume and sometimes we don’t even realize it. We don’t ask enough questions. We don’t double check and triple check. We are too worried about the prospect being “comfortable” that we are not unreasonable enough with ourselves. Next time you “know” something will happen, just double check. It’s worth it every single time. You’ve got this. 🤙

Are your sales teams struggling with complex sales processes and stalled deals? They've prepared a great presentation, but the prospect isn't biting. Chances are, they're focused on the wrong things. Rather than obsessing over proposals and presentations, they need to shift their mindset from closing the deal to what their client needs. Discover how focusing on customer needs rather than aggressive sales tactics can transform relationships and results. Learn about the "decision grid" strategy that changed the game by revealing the decision-making process from the client's perspective. Build trust, partnership, and see sales success in a new light. I’ll never forget what my first sales mentor told me: “What gets measured gets improved.” At the time, I brushed it off—who likes admin work, right? But as I gained more experience, I realized how true it was. Tracking your sales process might not be the most exciting part of the job, but it’s essential. Measuring your performance helps you uncover gaps, identify patterns, and figure out where deals are slipping through the cracks. It’s the first step to sharpening your skills and turning those near-misses into consistent wins. Want to take the first step?
