In the latest edition of Learning Futures, we explore a future where we work to create the conditions for well-being rather treat the symptoms of illness. As society prioritizes preventative well-being over disease management, how might education need to evolve its fundamental narratives and metrics for success? What current assumptions will we have to re-examine? https://lnkd.in/e2ejBFs2

In Los Angeles County, over 1 in 10 adults live with diabetes. Early detection and education are critical, yet awareness and resources for prevention, management, and care often vary across neighborhoods. ✨ Our Commitment: we’re spotlighting local & national resources available for diabetes education, screening, and management. Consider visiting the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, American Diabetes Association, American Public Health Association, ALPS (American Limb Preservation Society), or the National Medical Association for diabetes education, screening, and management resources. 🤔 Join the Conversation: What steps can we take together as a community to improve diabetes awareness in Los Angeles? We’d love to hear from you—share your thoughts or resources in the comments below. Together, let’s build a level playing field for a healthier LA. 🌍 Today is World Sepsis Day, a reminder of the importance of early education in preventing life-threatening conditions. Girl Guides in Bairnsdale have taken action by partnering with their local hospital to create an educational display on sepsis. This week, they visited the hospital to see the display in all its glory, and learn about all the different roles and departments there. It's great to see not only Guides raising (and developing their own) much-needed awareness of this serious condition, but also learning about the many critical roles in healthcare. You can learn more about sepsis and access World Sepsis Day resources here: https://lnkd.in/dZKCbwF #WorldSepsisDay #HealthAwareness #SepsisAwareness #YouthDevelopment

On this day in 2019, the ACEs Aware Initiative launched as a first-in-the-nation effort to screen patients for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to help improve and save lives. As we celebrate five years, we reflect on the progress that California health care teams and communities have made in preventing, identifying, and responding to ACEs and toxic stress. This Global Media and Information Literacy Week, we want to ensure that we are all receiving proper, up-to-date #information. There are many ways to achieve this like accessing #reliable sources, asking the right professionals, and asking the right questions about each source. These #questions can be as simple as: (1) What are the credentials of the authors? (2) How recent/applicable is the presented data? (3) Is there any bias in the article based on the connections of the authors to the publishing journals? Like and share this post so others can also ask these questions to ensure accurate information! Rise Up Childhood Education International Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

As an MS Activist and constituent, I urge you to pass the fiscal year 2025 federal spending bills that fund MS priorities at the following levels: - $51.3 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH); - $20 million for the MS Research Program at the Department of Defense; - $11.5 billion for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, inclusive of $5 million for the National Neurological Conditions Surveillance System; and - $20 million for the Lifespan Respite Care Program to support family caregivers. As a constituent, I am counting on you to work in a bipartisan manner to pass the federal appropriations bills that fund key research, programs and services that the nearly 1 million Americans living with MS and their families rely on to live their best lives. Failure to adequately fund these programs could affect innovative research and jeopardize access to the programs. We also urge Congress to focus on providing necessary funding through the appropriations process, and manage any potential policy changes through the regular legislative process. @donaldnorcross can I count on you to support funding for #MSResearch and other MS priorities as part of FY25? These bills help fund critical MS research and programs and services that people with MS rely on to live their best lives. #MSActivist #multiplesclerosis
