Launched in 2021 in Mexico City and Paris, Generation Equality signifies a powerful commitment to hasten the pace of progress towards achieving gender equality and empowering women. It does so through tangible and measurable actions, directly contributing to the 2030 Agenda. Generation Equality’s six thematic Action Coalitions and the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action Compact (WPSHA) are dynamic, multi-stakeholder alliances propelling global mobilization. They are sparking conversations across generations, fostering greater gender-responsive investments, and delivering concrete and transformative results for women and girls.
Generation Equality is a global initiative that's accelerating progress towards #GenderEquality. #GenerationEquality focuses on critical issues: 📢 Equal pay 📢 Fair sharing of unpaid care work 📢 Eradicating gender-based violence 📢 Access to health care 📢 Increasing women’s political participation It unites activists, leaders, and organizations from diverse sectors through a multigenerational and multi-stakeholder approach. 👇 We have now launched the Generation Equality Accountability Report 2024. Every 10 Minutes: A Global Call to Action In the time it takes to read this post, another woman may lose her life to gender-based violence. Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed by someone she knows—a partner, a family member, or someone once trusted. In 2023 alone, over 51,100 women were murdered as the final act in a cycle of abuse. Gender-based violence is not just a personal tragedy; it is a human rights violation and a barrier to economic growth, social progress, and workplace equality. Globally, nearly 1 in 3 women have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetimes—a grim statistic that underscores the need for systemic change. As business leaders and professionals, we have the power and responsibility to act. Corporate workplaces can play a pivotal role by: • Fostering Safe Spaces: Implementing zero-tolerance policies toward harassment and violence. • Supporting Survivors: Partnering with organizations like 1800RESPECT, Our Watch, or White Ribbon Australia to provide resources and support. • Driving Awareness: Using our platforms to challenge harmful norms and promote gender equality. This International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, let’s lead with compassion, empathy, and accountability. Violence against women is not just a social issue—it is a professional and moral imperative for us to address. Together, we can drive meaningful change and create a safer, more equitable world. #NoExcuse #UNiTE #HumanRights #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #IndiansInSydney #UNiTE #HumanRights #Indians #beconnected #shareus #keepspreadinghappiness #Indiansinaustralia #Indiancommunity #likeus #IndiansinNSW #Indiansinsydney Multicultural NSW Steve Kamper Jodie Harrison Joseph La Posta Katy Gallagher Women of Colour Australia SSI Community Migrant Resource Centre
