Lessons in the importance of building relationships…..
People and Culture Innovator 🚀 | Fractional CHRO | Speaker 🎤| Champion of Strategic & Results-Based Organizations 🎯
Every summer, over the 4th of July our family gathers and experiences a new geographic location, a tradition my parents established decades ago, when it was just Mom, Dad, and their four girls. Over time, the original Wilk family of six has grown exponentially. And while sadly, they are both now gone, 😇 their commitment to prioritizing family time and exploration has created a lasting legacy that has bonded us closer with each passing year. In our busy lives, it’s easy to let time slip away without connecting meaningfully with those who matter most. My parents understood the importance of carving out dedicated time for family, and their foresight has given us a foundation of unity and love that we cherish deeply. Our reunions are a testament to their belief in the power of togetherness and the value of shared experiences. 💕 Bringing 23 busy people from across the country together annually isn’t as easy task. It requires a great deal of intentionality, planning, coordination (and an inordinate amount of food!🤣), but the payoff is huge. Just as our family reunions foster deeper connections and understanding among us, companies can benefit immensely from consistently bringing teams together. Regular team-building activities, retreats, and collaborative projects can sow the seeds of trusting, supportive relationships. When organizations prioritize these gatherings, they strengthen the bonds among team members, leading to enhanced collaboration, increased morale, and a more cohesive work environment. In both family and business, the investment in time and connection are the building blocks of enduring relationships and thriving communities. Today, and everyday, I’m so grateful for the important lessons my parents taught me about prioritizing relationships, and the values they instilled upon our entire family. 💕 #Grateful #Relationships #Inclusion #FosteringTeams

Good morning! It’s July 1st, a fresh start and the beginning of new journeys. As we start today, let's reflect and move forward with intention: - How do you want to be remembered after interactions with others? - What is most important in your life? - What are your goals, dreams, and desires? - What are you willing to set aside to achieve those goals? - What motivates you to move forward? Here’s a bit about my journey: I'm in a new home, starting a new chapter. My youngest kept me up last night with his snoring—he snuck into my bed! I'm focusing on my health and well-being, aiming to eat better and exercise. My friend James convinced me to try the carnivore diet. My kids are my world, and I'm working on building my health, wealth, and happiness for them. I'm committed to being more present for my family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to those who have stood by me: - Angel, Jennifer, Tami, Vinh, Steve, Gill, and Emmeline. For my team: - Robilyn, my incredible executive assistant. - My network marketing team: Renee, Amanda, Lee (Brenda), Stephanie, Julia. Thank you for leading with love, humanity, honesty, and truth. For my family, especially my kids, I’m working hard to give you 100% and build our dreams. For the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation board and those we serve, we stand for inclusion and love, ensuring dignity for all. I will be remembered for standing up for a better world, not tolerating hate, disrespect, or discrimination, but doing it with love, empathy, hope, and soul. What do you choose right now? #NewBeginnings #July1st #IntentionalLiving #FamilyFirst #HealthJourney #GrowthMindset #Inclusion #Leadership #Empathy

Dave Maddux with Leadership, Luck & Life. We are in the middle of the holiday season, one of the all-time favorite holiday families has got to be the Griswold’s. Clark. Ellen. Cousin Eddie. Millions have watched the now classic movie of the Christmas season, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. There is a reason this movie is one of the most popular in American culture – it presents a view of the imperfections of life, family, and relationships. And, it is just plain funny. Here are a few leadership lessons that we can learn from Clark this Christmas. 1. Every group, family or team comes with quirks, not just yours. 2. Unrealistic expectations can result in some serious disappointment. 3. Solutions to problems are often found in the least expected places. 4. Generosity matters. This year has had challenges we could not have imagined this time last year. And yet, here we are at Christmas 2024, may you accept the imperfect people surrounding you (including yourself), keep your expectations in check, and show some generosity to others, and thank God for his unconditional charity that continues to be shown to each of us through Jesus. As Clark would say, "Have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas." Approaching my six-month mark at Shearwater Health has me reflecting on just how far I’ve come—not just professionally, but personally. My calendar is the busiest it’s ever been, yet my anxiety is at an all-time low. Why? Because I’ve found myself in a workplace that values people-first. Over the last six months, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for what truly matters in the workplace: being valued for who you are and the work you bring to the table. At Shearwater, empathy, collaboration, and long-term impact matter as much as (if not more than) the bottom line. Teams are supported, voices are heard, and growth is celebrated—not just for the company, but for each individual. Every single day, people celebrate one another for who they are. Authenticity is abundant here. It’s not just a buzzword thrown around on LinkedIn posts about “culture.” It’s real. From team lunches that bring people together to awards celebrating authenticity, I’m surrounded by people who genuinely live these values. To anyone navigating career challenges: I see you. It’s not easy, but I promise—there are companies out there that align with your values. Keep pushing forward. Finding a workplace that honors your worth is worth the journey. To my incredible team & leaders at Shearwater Health (Tom Kendrot, Giri Namala, Jennifer M. Bales, and so many more) thank you for building a culture where people thrive. It’s exciting to wake up every day and contribute to something meaningful! What does a people-first culture mean to you? Let’s discuss.

This has been on our minds a lot lately, culture is created by your values and priorities, they matter. Values: 👩🎓 Respect & Accountability: Valuing all individuals and treating everyone fairly, while taking responsibility for one’s own actions and outcomes. 👭 Customer Commitment: Prioritizing customer satisfaction and building lasting relationships. 💡 Diversity and Inclusion: Valuing diverse perspectives and creating an inclusive environment for all employees. 📚 Continuous Improvement: Always seeking ways to enhance processes and outcomes. 🌟 Work-Life Balance: Promoting a healthy balance between work and personal life. Priorities: ➕ Employee & Cultural Development: Nurturing a positive and productive workplace culture, while investing in training and career growth opportunities for staff. 💵 Financial Performance/Stability: Maintaining and improving upon profitability and financial health of the company. 💹 Market Expansion: Seeking opportunities for growth in new markets. 💾 Operational Efficiency: Streamlining processes to enhance productivity. 💬 Customer Retention: Focusing on keeping existing customers engaged and satisfied. How do these compare to your values and priorities? Do you resonate with anything in there? I'd love to hear what other people have prioritized and valued. We are all different.
🌟 Happy National Family Day! 🌟 Today, let’s take a moment to celebrate the incredible bonds we share with our families—whether by blood or by choice. These relationships are often the foundation of our lives, and they reflect core values that resonate deeply in both our personal and professional worlds: love, trust, and respect. ❤️ Love is the glue that holds us together. It nurtures our connections and inspires us to support one another through thick and thin. 🤝 Trust builds the framework for strong relationships. In both our families and workplaces, trust fosters open communication, collaboration, and innovation. 🙏 Respect is essential for creating an environment where everyone feels valued. Just as we honor our family members’ differences and perspectives, we must also extend that respect to our colleagues and teams. On this special day, let’s commit to embodying these values in every aspect of our lives. Together, we can create a culture of love, trust, and respect that extends beyond our families and into our workplaces and communities. How do you celebrate these values in your life? Share your thoughts in the comments! ⬇️ We can all get inspiration from new ideas. #NationalFamilyDay #CoreValues #LoveTrustRespect #FamilyFirst #Community

Happy Independence Day! How are you celebrating? I’m celebrating all of the reasons and more that Taters, including myself, feel empowered to be our best and do our best - thanks to freedom, independence and trust. This art of encouragement is embedded in Small Potatoes Communications, where leadership has embraced #workplaceflexibility that supports our independence. For me, that independence looks like working from the office in the mornings when I am most focused, then working from home in the afternoons when I need to take short walks to get my brain back on track. It also looks like encouraging me to visit family in Cincinnati and Memphis and setting me up for success when I go on vacation so that I don’t have to look at my Slack or Outlook (no matter how much I itch to). Freedom is deeply personal and looks different for every person. On #IndependenceDay, Americans celebrate freedom in all facets – liberation from an oppressive power, choosing our own destinies and declaring our own proud identities. This freedom doesn’t end when employees come back to work after barbecues and fireworks. We carry it with us, from the ways we express ourselves in fashion to our preferred methods of #communication. So, when you go back to work on Monday after a weekend of celebrating, identify how your #organizationalculture prioritizes employees proudly showing and utilizing their strengths and differences. Let us know what you find! - Sydney Jones #wfh #remotework #fourthofjuly #agencylife #employeebenefits
