A good book, providing a compelling examination of the U.S. Navy’s 1943-1944 Central Pacific campaign during World War II. The author, British maritime historian Evan Mawdsley, seamlessly blends a chronological narrative with in-depth topical histories, offering readers a comprehensive understanding of the forces, processes, and actions that shaped the campaign. The book’s strength lies in its engaging prose. Mawdsley clearly explains how a multi-domain naval campaign was able to attain sea dominance over a still potent adversary by the middle of 1944. Most interesting is Mawdsley’s defense of Spruance’s decisions in the Battle of the Philippine Sea. A great book for anyone interested in the naval history of World War II. Highly recommended for those seeking to understand the means and methods of the Central Pacific campaign.

Is naval command and control different from other domains? Perhaps a better question would be whether it is sufficiently different to require a different kind of understanding in order to make the whole joint piece work as designed? I sat down with the Royal Navy's Second Sea Lord, Vice Admiral Martin Connell CBE, last month for a chat about what makes naval C2 different, the issues facing navies (in C2 terms) today, and whether preparing naval officers for command appointments is good enough for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

America today is dominated warmongers & corrupt politicians. #Taiwanese geopolitical experts and politicians understand Taiwan is long exploited as pawn and coerced into Island Chain No. 1 to counter China, a great civilization under consecutive attacks by imperialist Western and Japanese forces since 1800s. US supported China only to counter Russia. Now US has Japan directly involved to counter Russia and China, India now watching and computing its bet. Such is the US-led West self-serving imperialist #ApartheidRegime - "divide & rule" #AUKUS #Quad looking like extension of #Nato with Japan Imperialist keen to host Asia Nato office. Taiwanese rejects strenuously the attempt to make Taiwan #Ukraine2. Taiwanese and mainland Chinese understand, the #Apartheid Regime will deploy nuclear weapons in Asia as they did in Japan, as in the mind of those supremacist warmongers - those in Asia are not the same kind (Watch how corrupt American warmongering politicians speak in public on nuclear deployment). 👿👿👿 📢 It is immoral and criminal to indoctrinate young Americans on fake ideologies all to sustain supremacist regime under the guise of "Democracy, Humanrights, Peace & Freedom". Department of National Defence/Ministère de la défense nationale (DND) - Letter of Intent to Establish a Reserve Presence in Whitehorse, Yukon On December 2nd, Defence Minister Bill Blair and the Honourable Ranj Pillai, the Yukon Premier, signed a letter of intent for the Royal Canadian Navy | Marine royale canadienne (RCN) to establish a Naval Reserve presence in Canada’s north. With the support of the Government of Yukon, the RCN intends to send members to Whitehorse, Yukon, in the summer of 2025 to further explore viability and develop options for a Naval Reserve footprint in the territory. https://lnkd.in/gsVgNzkC
