DEIB Week: Not a One-Off Event But a Year-Round Commitment This week was DEIB Week at DHL and DHL Consulting. We held a series of enriching activities and discussions making it a great opportunity to pause, reflect, celebrate, and gain renewed energy to drive our DEIB initiatives forward. But it doesn't end there.   While designated weeks like DEIB Week are crucial for raising awareness and sparking important conversations, it is vital to remember that Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are not just initiatives to be spotlighted intermittently. They are foundational principles that must be woven into the fabric of our daily operations and organizational culture.   Here’s why year-round dedication to DEIB is essential:   Sustained Progress: Real change takes time. Continuous efforts ensure that DEIB goals are not merely aspirational but are systematically pursued and achieved. Regular training, policy reviews, and engagement activities keep the momentum going.   Inclusive Culture: Building a truly inclusive environment is an ongoing process. It requires constant nurturing to ensure that all team members feel valued, heard, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work every day.   Innovation and Growth: Diverse teams bring varied perspectives that drive innovation and creative problem-solving. A commitment to DEIB fosters an environment where new ideas can flourish, contributing to the overall growth and success of the organization.   Accountability and Transparency: Regular evaluation and reporting on DEIB initiatives help maintain accountability. It’s important to continuously measure our progress, identify areas for improvement, and transparently share these findings with all stakeholders.   Attracting and Retaining Talent: Top talent seeks workplaces that reflect their values. Demonstrating a genuine, ongoing commitment to DEIB helps attract diverse talent and reduces turnover by ensuring that employees feel respected and included.   I'm glad we took this week to renew our commitment to DEIB and carry the momentum forward throughout the rest of the year and beyond! I'm excited to share that I’ve just completed the Bright Network IEUK 2024 program! 🚀 Over the past four days, I’ve embarked on an incredible journey of learning and growth. Here’s a snapshot of this transformative experience: Day 1: Inspiring Keynotes: Philip Yarrow and James Uffindell spoke about continuous growth and lifelong learning. Personal Branding: Charlotte Sangster from PwC highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive and professional image. Workplace Skills: Zoe Wells and Aidan Ward-Hendry from ICAEW emphasized essential skills crucial across various industries. Day 2: Sustainability Practices: Daisy Thompson and Juetong Liang discussed Nestlé’s sustainability plans and related social issues. Commercial Strategy: Marie Fukuura from Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I shared eye-opening strategies. Product Masterclass: Aileen Nathan from Mondelēz International focused on storytelling and sustainability. B2B Sales: Charles Frost from AlphaSights showcased their dynamic approach to unlocking human knowledge. 🧠 Project Brief: Jr Graham from British Airways introduced our project for the program. ✈️ Day 3: Technological Advancements: Explored innovations with Sara Jones from BT Group. 💻 Mental Resilience: Ryan Mairs shared practical tips for maintaining mental health. 🧘 Engaged in a Q&A with alumni Heather Kennedy, James Olley, Abbie Scargill Assoc CIPD and Berke Candar, learning from their career journeys. 🎓 Day 4: Final Work Submission: Submitted a work sample and received constructive feedback. 📝 Closing Remarks: James provided career tips, encouraging us to "dream big and take on big challenges." 🌟 A big thank you to the Bright Network team, especially James Uffindell, Rachel Delaney, and Philip Yarrow, for organizing this fantastic event. South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA) Conference Thank you to SAGEA  for providing an opportunity to Nedbank and Joint Prosperity to share our perspectives on refreshing young talent strategies at Nedbank at the South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA) Employees A 2024 Development Conference. The South African context for young talent has become increasingly challenging. Despite high youth unemployment, critical skills remain scarce potentially impacting organisations’ ability to deliver on their strategic objectives and be agile in responding to emerging opportunities. It was in this context that we as Joint Prosperity partnered with Nedbank to review and refresh their Young Talent strategy as a key talent pipeline for the future. Key insights and recommendations that emerged included the following: · The need to expand their current view of young talent pipelines while also ensuring these talent pools cater for varied business demands now and in the future. · Reviewing their young talent value proposition, amplifying what differentiates them as an employer and strengthening the proof points of what is offered to graduates, their experience of the organisation, and the expectations of the employer. · Streamlining their recruitment processes while breaking silo’s as talent pools are expanded and ensuring they assess for potential to support longer-term  talent management objectives. · Stepping up development and focus on building skills for the future. Internal mobility to support agile development was also recommended in support of this. · Increasing psycho-social support and well-being · Strengthening the engagement with and role of line managers · Building a strong business case and getting the buy-in from business which is so essential in ensuring effective implementation and support for young talent programmes. Her story is a true inspiration for aspiring professionals. 💪 Workshop - PwC UK: 🌍 Kate Reynolds from PwC UK delved into the firm’s focus on sustainability, net zero goals, and ESG factors. She highlighted the value of data science skills beyond coding, including problem-solving and communication. 🌳🔢 Workshop - Forvis Mazars Group Mazars: 🎯 Emma Russell provided excellent advice on interview preparation, covering various types of interview questions and emphasizing the STAR method.
