Historically, there has been a larger emphasis on quarterly corporate targets than long-term planning and goals. ➡️CECP’s CEO Daryl Brewster posits that reorienting markets toward the long term would help businesses prioritize sustainability and take concrete climate action — both of which are broadly popular with consumers. The benefits of long-term planning don’t stop at improved sustainability. It allows corporations to increase efficiency, strengthen community relationships, create cutting-edge workplaces, attract top talent, and increase consumer demand. 🎯 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 #𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Many chairs say that #climatechange is a top three priority. At the same time, they express the concern that “there is not enough persistence in climate ambitions since there are so many other critical issues to deal with.“ For its Global Boardroom Program’s chair of the future report Deloitte has interviewed 230 chairs of some of the largest companies in the world. To me, key outcomes are that boards and chairs can definitely help build momentum to meet the sustainability challenge, but it requires long-term #investment, #measurement, and #accountability. And: Climate strategy needs to be integrated into business strategy. 🌍 CEOs Adjust Communication of Climate Strategies Amid Stakeholder Pressure 🌍 A recent KPMG survey reveals that while CEOs remain committed to their climate strategies, many are shifting how they communicate these efforts to investors and the public. In an era of increasing scrutiny, the focus has moved from simply having a strategy to articulating it with clarity and credibility. At The Corporate Reporters, we recognize that successful corporate reporting is as much about content as it is about communication. As stakeholders demand greater transparency, companies must ensure their ESG reports are not only compliant but also persuasive, aligning with both regulatory requirements and investor expectations. Effective reporting builds trust. Is your climate strategy being communicated clearly? Ask us. Reporting is what we do. www.corporatereporters.com Read the full KPMG article here: https://lnkd.in/exwDpUkx #ESG #ClimateStrategy #CorporateReporting #StakeholderEngagement #Sustainability

In this recent “Chair of the Future” article, Deloitte Global Boardroom Program interviewed 230 board chairs from across the globe to understand how they are balancing the increasing urgency to address climate change challenges with traditional shareholder expectations. Forty two percent of respondents rated climate change as a “top three issue” for their organizations and 61% said they expected climate change to impact their companies’ strategy and operations over the next three years. There is growing understand that climate action must be a key strategic and operational board focus area instead of just an exercise in compliance. On the positive side, while managing climate change risk is a necessity, many leaders see the opportunity in addressing this risk proactively. As one respondant said, “Don’t look at climate change as a bitter castor oil. We need to talk innovation, regardless of climate change. It’s not a liability, but an opportunity to innovate.” Read further for suggestions on how board chairs can find a way forward, balancing the need for urgency to address climate risk while meeting short term performance expectations and building future resiliency and prosperity. #climatechange #chairofthefuture #climatechallenges
