The Cayuga Medical Center Foundation recently announced a new mural at the Cayuga Cancer Center’s East Campus. Created by local artist Paulina Melechkina, this mural was commissioned in memory of Vince Marziano, who passed away from cancer in August 2022. In this video, Vince’s wife, Cora, reflects on this touching tribute that captures his love for the natural beauty of Cayuga Lake.

Excellent work highlighting the importance of spatial dynamics in cancer development!
Thrilled to share the first research paper from my PhD, out today in Royal Society Open Science! Here we use agent-based simulations to shed light on how cells behave during the very first stages of lung cancer initiation. Thanks so much to Clare Weeden, Alastair Magness, Philip Pearce, Mohit Dalwadi, Charles Swanton and Karen Page for all of their work on this paper. https://lnkd.in/d3UK8e5e

Even Nature published publications can get retracted - interesting read below.
We have been providing evidence that a 2020 Nature paper that was the flagship Cancer microbiome paper was flawed in quite a few different ways. Yesterday it was retracted. This has been a long journey and I think it's the correct outcome. Thanks to everyone that has been involved, especially Abraham Gihawi who has been investigating this since his PhD days, and Steven Salzberg for really raising the analysis and awareness to another level. This Science article sums it up pretty well (bit.ly/3xEzHt5).

Lets keep it real. I have lost friends and family to cancer. Most of us have. So when your companies technology is supporting someone whose goal is ending cancer forever, and we are accelerating their time to discovery by 10-30x... I cannot understate how exciting that is. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and Dell Technologies joined WEKA President Jonathan Martin on SiliconANGLE & theCUBE at #SC24 to talk about the MSKCC supercluster and how it’s reducing the wall clock time to research breakthroughs, accelerating time to discovery by 10-30x.
