🎄✨ It’s Not About Receiving Gifts—It’s About Giving the Presents ✨🎄 As kids, Christmas felt like a distant dream. Growing up in a Marathi-medium school, I heard classmates talk about Santa leaving gifts in their stockings. I’d sit there, curious (and maybe a little jealous), wondering, “Why doesn’t Santa visit me?” But as I grew, I realized something important—Christmas isn’t about shiny gifts wrapped in paper. It’s about kindness, connection, and HOPE. It’s about being present for those around us. 🎁 Gifting vs. Giving: Sure, Secret Santa gifts at work are fun, but let’s not stop there. A heartfelt note, a warm hug, or even just listening to someone who needs it can mean so much more. 🌟 Christmas = Hope: No matter how tough life gets, Christmas reminds us that better days are coming. It’s a whisper of hope, telling us, “It’s going to be okay.” This year, let’s make it about giving hope, joy, and light to those who need it. Because the real magic of Christmas isn’t in what we get—it’s in what we give. ✨ Spread the love this season. Show up, be kind, and make someone’s day a little brighter. 💬 What’s your favorite way to give during Christmas? 🎄✨ Give the Gift They Truly Need This Christmas ✨🎄 As we approach the Christmas season, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of buying presents and "stuff" for loved ones. But what if, instead of guessing what might make them smile, we asked what they really need? Sometimes, the most meaningful gift isn’t something wrapped in paper but something that touches the heart: 🌟 Paying a bill to ease financial stress. 🌟 Offering a homemade meal or babysitting so they can take a break. 🌟 Filling up their car with petrol or simply grabbing a coffee to connect and listen. These thoughtful gestures not only make Christmas brighter but also strengthen bonds. Many people won’t ask for help—they may feel embarrassed or unsure how. But by starting the conversation, we have the chance to be a real source of joy and support. 💡 This Christmas, let’s make our gifts about connection, kindness, and love. Ask your friends, family, or neighbours how you can help in a way that makes a true difference. Your gift could be the one that turns someone's tough Christmas into a heartwarming one. 🎁❤️ #ChristmasGiving #KindnessMatters #SupportEachOther #ConnectionOverThings

🗣When was the last time you wrote a letter? I don’t mean some quick official reply you had to dash off—I mean a proper, personal letter to someone you know. I don’t send Christmas cards. Let me qualify that: I don’t send many Christmas cards. Those I do send are to close friends or relatives I don’t see often. But I don’t just send a card, I include a letter. Letters have a certain kind of magic about them. Have you ever received a love letter? If so, you’ll know what I mean. But all letters that have been written just for you are something special. A big part of a letter’s charm is its feel-good factor; and not just for the recipient. Writing to someone to tell them you appreciate them, love them, are grateful for having known them: it makes you—the author—happy. Receiving that kind of gift at any time of year is wonderful, but especially at Christmas. Many people feel sad, disillusioned or just a bit removed from all the commercial hype—when we’re all supposed to be full of joy. But a letter is a different kind of gift. It can be held, cherished, reread many times. Often it contains feelings the writer couldn’t say in person. It’s taken time, thought, care and is made only for the person it’s sent to. How many other Christmas gifts fit that description?🥰 #NationalLetterWritingDay

🎄 Our Strange New Christmas Tradition... 🎄 Admit it - Christmas is just the best. The message. The traditions. The memories. The wonder. The feels. ❤️ But a couple of years ago my wife and I thought about something... What are kids concerned about on Christmas Day? 🎁 The obvious answer: the presents. (And understandably so.) 🎁 But as Christian parents, although we love giving our kids wonderful memories they'll be able to cherish for the rest of their lives - getting presents is not really what we wanted their main focus to be on the day that's meant to commemorate Christ's birth. So the question we struggled with was... 🤔 How do we keep Christmas about Christ while still giving our kids those precious memories and experiences like we had growing up? 🤔 So the past couple of years we've tried something different. We've introduced the concept of "Giving Days." Each Saturday in December leading up to Christmas, 1-2 of our kids is assigned a Giving Day. On their designated Giving Day, their siblings (and my wife and I) focus on giving gifts just to those 1 or 2 kids. The idea is that these days can be focused on generosity for the other kids who are giving the gifts, rather than just on getting presents. But then each kid still does get their day when they have the joy of receiving as well. Then on Christmas Day, most of the gifts have been opened so we do a "birthday party for Jesus" (we still do put little gifts in their stockings - I guess you could call them "party favors" 😊). We eat a brunch and have a "birthday cake" (although I think last year we just did Little Debbies 😂 ). We watch a nativity-themed Christmas movie and sing Christmas songs. And in the afternoon we usually celebrate with grandparents. It's been something of an experiment the past couple of years and we've enjoyed it! I think it's something we'll continue but we'll see. I'd love to hear your thoughts! 👇 What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions? Any thoughts on our approach or advice on how we could improve it?

THE OTHER SIDE OF MERRY CHRISTMAS My heart gets especially heavy during the Holiday seasons. So many children go without for so many heartfelt reasons. Some children will awake with no presents under a Christmas tree. There will be no laughter, no “can we open presents” plea. There will be no tree decorated with colorful lights. Nor a home where they could spend warm nights. Will they spend the day without family, maybe without a Mom or Dad ? Or will they have Grandparents to help make their day glad. Santa only brought him one present; some have them stacked a mile long. Did they make Santa mad at them, or did they do something wrong? It’s hard to explain this to a child on Christmas morning. Maybe we should take this as a subtle holiday warning. Should we say that Santa only brings certain presents to a child? The other gifts are from Mom and Dad, which they compiled. That won’t help those who spend a day cold, hungry or alone. This is the part of Christmas my heart does not condone. I pray children find a Christmas miracle and know it’s not a myth. They deserve a caring family or even friends to celebrate with. This is the season for miracles and when hearts seem to give. A season for love, hope and a time for us to forgive. A season of memories that should be pleasant and make us smile. A season that we all can cherish, even if just for a while. Jcogdill

So, imagine this – Santa Claus, the jolly old fellow, right? Supposedly the embodiment of kindness, the love for all the well-behaved children. But if you actually look at how things work in practice, it's a bit of a different story, isn’t it? There’s the good kids, the ones who do their homework, say "please" and "thank you" – and yes, they get their presents. Fair enough, that makes sense. But then, there are the bad kids. And what happens to them? They get presents too! Loads of them! It's like Christmas is some sort of reward for being a little menace. They're cheeky, they fight with their cousins at the Christmas dinner table, but hey, gifts all around! And then – and this is where it gets really mad – there are the poor kids. You know, the ones whose families aren’t rolling in it, the ones who don’t always get the latest gadgets or fancy clothes. What do they get? Nothing! Why? Because Santa – and just stick with me here – judges a child’s goodness based mainly on how much money their parents make! I kid you not! A kid with the latest iPhone under the tree must be far more well-behaved than one who doesn’t even have a proper TV. Of course, the Christmas presents come with a hefty dose of capitalism. Maybe next year, if your parents buy the right car, you'll get a little extra in your stocking. That’s Christmas these days. A real test of your parents’ tax bracket, isn’t it?

Christmas: A Time for True Connection 🎄 To me, Christmas isn’t about the widespread commercialism, the race to outdo one another with extravagant gifts, or the glittering displays of lights and decorations (though, I must admit, I do love transforming spaces). It’s not about who can spend the most or turn it into a competition. Christmas is, and always will be, about connection. It’s a time to reignite old relationships and create new ones. A time to reflect, give back, and lend a helping hand to those in need. A time to recognize that not everyone’s situation is the same, and to act with compassion and understanding. I’m not religious, and I don’t care much for the frenzy of gift-giving or receiving. But I do care deeply about this season as a reminder of what truly matters: showing up for one another, practicing gratitude, and embracing the spirit of altruism. The holidays are an opportunity to pause and reflect on what we’ve accomplished, the people who matter most to us, and how we can make a positive difference. As I look at my tree this year, I feel grateful—not for material things, but for the connections, kindness, and opportunities to uplift others. Let’s connect, give, and grow together. #ChristmasReflections #Gratitude #Connection #gratitude
