I joined a webinar with the topic "Genomic Approaches in Detecting Risk of Cancer and General Disease" by Avida Bioscience, which collaborated with Medistra Jakarta Hospital and GC Genome - Korea. I'm so impressed how the genomic approach can be used for detection, and also healthcare represents a major shift towards more personalized, precise, and effective medical care.

Rejuvenation Startup Summit in Berlin has begun! The first talk was from Otto Kanzler from Rockfish Bio. They're working on new generation senolytics and biomarker development to measure the impact of senescent cells on our bodies. The we all know, the 1st generation of senolytics encountered significant side effects, compounded by the challenge of lacking non-invasive clinical biomarkers to assess senescent cell load and the absence of monitoring tools for therapy. To address these issues, the team has pinpointed a target pathway and gathered initial data from mouse models. Their leading candidate has demonstrated promising outcomes, enhancing activity levels and reducing frailty index in older mice, thereby extending both healthspan and lifespan. And the mice were indeed old, - 34 m.o! Their strategy revolves around targeting PLA2 and arachidonic acid signalling, leveraging the notion that elevated arachidonic acid levels prompt apoptosis. However, intracellular levels of AA in healthy cells return to normal once senescent cells are eliminated. Moreover, they are actively developing biomarkers to quantify senescent cell burden. #senescence #senolytics #aging #rejuvenationstartupsummit

🧬Recruitment Open for the IMM003 Trial – A Genomic Study on Bronchiectasis and Primary Immunodeficiency 🧬 We’re thrilled to announce that recruitment is now open for the IMM003 Trial: A Pilot Genomic Analysis of Patients with Bronchiectasis and Primary Immunodeficiency (PID). This study aims to develop an advanced diagnostic method using genetic information to improve the detection of PID. If successful, this test could lead to faster diagnoses, enabling patients to access life-changing treatments and therapies sooner. Many patients with PID develop bronchiectasis, and this research could significantly enhance our ability to distinguish PID among those with lung disease.
