One of the most valued aspects of the European project in which we are involved is the strategic missions. Our appreciation does not stem solely from the opportunity to travel and explore new geographies and ways of life and work, although this is also significant. What we truly value is the 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 we gain from these missions, which includes: 🟣 Acquisition of 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲. 🟣 Promotion of enriching 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀. 🟣 Exchanges of 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 🟣 Establishment of 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀. 🟣 The opportunity to dedicate ourselves exclusively, for a few days, to the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 of our sector beyond European borders. During the 12th and 13th of March, the Third Transnational Meeting of the Erasmus+ CSO ADMIN Project took place in Zaragoza, Spain. This project is co-funded by the European Union and aims to improve European society by supporting youth NGOs through training focused on the creation and management of NGOs. To achieve this, the project is developing a collaborative mentoring platform where users can interact, share, and access information related to NGOs. The target group consists of young university students from any field, who have personal plans to establish and/or manage an NGO. INNETICA hosted the event, which took place at the facilities provided by ESIC Business&Marketing School in Zaragoza. We greatly appreciate their collaboration and kindness. The consortium of this project consists of the following organizations, which were represented at the event: Dunarea de Jos University of Galati (Romania), Jaume I University of Castellón (Spain), Associação Portuguesa de Business Intelligence (Portugal), Akademia Humanistyczno-Ekonomiczna w Lodz (Poland), S.E.A.L Cyprus (Cyprus Organization For Sustainable Education And Active Learning), and INNETICA. The main purpose of the meeting was to monitor and further develop Work Packages 2 and 3 of the project. During the various meetings, a review of the work done so far was conducted, and a roadmap was created for the successful completion of the next phases. Marcelo Credidio, an international education professional, former international student from São Paulo in Brazil, and true global citizen himself has shared an insightful presentation on the Latin America student market at NZIEC KI TUA 2024 this morning. He said there were common misconceptions with the Latin American international student market and if addressed could help promote more recruitment opportunities and see more students from the region choose to study in Aotearoa New Zealand. To account for these misconceptions, Marcelo’s top tips to international education providers are: * Don’t think of Latin America as a single market. There are in fact 33 countries in Latin America and all are very different. * Avoid using a mass approach for the various education subsectors. For example, the tertiary international education market is very small in many Latin American countries and requires a more niche approach. * English language proficiency shouldn’t be taken for granted when shaping market strategy. * Make sure cultural differences when it comes to financing and purchasing habits are taken into account. * Don't rely on global rankings as a differentiator and the main indicator for quality. Brand association is often a stronger indicator for quality in some Latin American countries. 🌍✨ I had the honor of being a trainer at the Management of Internationalization Course for Central America, organized by DAAD German Academic Exchange Service - Leibniz Universität Hannover at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. During the course, I conducted a workshop on #InternationalizationoftheCurriculum and provided feedback on the participants' projects. It was inspiring to share this space with talented experts such as Brenda García Portillo and Cristina Eftimie, and to collaborate with internationalization leaders from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. Some highlights from this experience: ✨ I thank DAAD - LUH for prioritizing the generation and transfer of knowledge from and for #LatinAmerica, I believe the contextualization and understanding of the cultural and social nuances adds great value to these training opportunities. ✨ Despite the differences in social and political contexts, we face very similar challenges across the Latin American region. There are still opportunities to make internationalization a more strategic and intentional process in the region.  ✨ Collective efforts to contextualize practices and strategies are key for regional development and integration in the higher education field. We have an opportunity to embrace more #critical approaches to internationalization in the region towards a more #inclusive, #sustainable, and #decolonial internationalization, one that promotes social and cognitive justice and meaningful #engagement with our #territories. ✨ Peer and #collaborativelearning are a fantastic approach to building knowledge in the region. It was fascinating to see participants sharing their own experiences to enrich each other's projects.
