Why is decision making so rarely discussed in hiring conversations? In my experience as a search consultant, it’s often overshadowed by culture, strategy, or other leadership qualities. Attn HR folks and business leaders - what agenda or meeting structure are you using for your interviews? I feel like my interviews are often inconsistent and bounce all over the place with different random questions that me and my team has. This can’t be the most effective way to evaluate talent. I’ve used PI in the past and love the personality test and questions list it generates but I feel like there should be a consistent structure to best utilize the time. Thinking something like the EOS L10 structure that I love for leadership meetings but custom fit for interviews. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

When conducting interviews, many hiring managers overlook crucial aspects: 1. Evaluating interpersonal skills: Often, the focus is solely on technical abilities, neglecting soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and leadership potential. 2. Ensuring a cultural match: To ensure a successful hire, it is vital to assess whether the candidate aligns with the team and company culture. 3. Asking insightful questions: Tailoring questions to reveal more about the candidate is key in distinguishing the right fit for the role. Interviews are lopsided. It’s a one-sided conversation where candidates are pitching themselves on why they would be the right fit for your company. At Socium, we flip the script. During the final phase, we dedicate time to walk through a “Why Choose Socium” presentation as your next place of employment. It only takes 5-8 minutes and I’ve broken down a little about what our “pitch” looks like in an effort to inspire you to do something similar. We break it down into the following: 1) How Socium came to be 2) Our service offering 3) Client logos to show our expertise across many industries 4) Why clients love us 5) Our core principles 6) Top company perks at a high level 7) “How Do You Plan to Play an Impact?” as a final open-ended slide When we have a passionate & motivated team, our partners reap the benefits. It’s our philosophy that we’ve had since day 1 of inception and firmly believe that these small acts unlock greater output and potential from our team. Curious about what others do to try and attract top talent?

Ever wondered what it takes to ace an interview for a facilities management role? Facilities management interviews often dive deep into your problem-solving abilities, leadership skills, and experience with past projects. Here are some tips to help you prepare: 🌟 Make sure you have a clear understanding of the role. 🌟 Focus on projects where you made a significant impact. 🌟 Demonstrate problem-solving skills. 🌟 Share examples of how you’ve led a team, worked with contractors or managed stakeholder expectations. 🌟 Prepare for technical questions. 🌟 Ask about the team you’ll be working with and the biggest challenges they’re facing. Interviews can be nerve-wracking, but with the right preparation, you can walk in with confidence! #interviews #interviewing #fm #facilitiesmanagement

During a training session on Interviewing Skills (for Hiring Managers/Interviewers) recently, when I asked for key takeaways at the end of the session, participants highlighted different aspects, but one point stood out - understanding what the candidate is looking for, what would excite him/her & how to represent your organization to the candidate. As much as an interviewer is assessing the candidate, the candidate is also assessing the interviewer & organization. Every interviewer represents the organization in this interaction & it's important to respect the candidate for what they are seeking. Every interaction we have is a 2-way street - we have our purpose but if we do not understand the audience's expectation & purpose, the interaction will not be as fruitful. It's an important leadership skill to be able to gauge audience interest & motivations, connect at their level, in their "zone", with their language & purpose. WIIFY (What's in it for you!) is key to connecting. Applies to all communication - with customers, stakeholders, team, managers, vendors included. In your interactions, how do you ensure WIIFY for the audience?

When recruiting leaders, do a thorough assessment. Traditional interviews alone are not sufficient to evaluate leadership potential. Consider using a combination of assessments, such as psychometric tests, behavioral interviews, and situational judgment tests. These tools can provide deeper insights into how a candidate might perform in leadership roles. Moreover, it’s important to look beyond the resume. Analyze how candidates have demonstrated leadership in their previous roles. Have they led successful projects? How did they navigate the challenges? Understanding their track record gives you a clearer picture of their leadership capabilities. #gaprecruitment
