Career progression isn’t a straight line. 1️⃣ Vertical Progression: Climb the ladder in your field, like when I advanced from an entry-level role to a higher position at Tuskys. 2️⃣ Lateral Movement: Explore new environments and industries without moving up. I made a lateral move by transitioning from retail at Tuskys to a low-level role in the media industry at KBC. 3️⃣ Diagonal Progression: Level up while changing fields. My shift from a techie role at IRC to a managerial position at CA blended growth with new challenges. 4️⃣ Horizontal Progression: Diversify your skills within the same organization. I’ve been doing this at Christian Aid by taking on different roles and gaining new perspectives. Your career and journey is unique and doesn’t have to be a straight line. The joy is in the twists and turns, who knows where i will be next? #CareerGrowth #InspirationalTuesday #kagototechgirl

Showing up is one simple act that can set the foundation for growth and future opportunities. As a young youth seeking professional development, showing up may seem basic, but its impact is profound. Here's why showing up can make all the difference in your life: 1. Consistency Builds Trust Consistently showing up, whether it’s at a networking event, class, job, or internship, signals reliability. It shows that you are dependable, that you value your commitments, and that people can count on you. Over time, this builds a reputation that can open doors to mentorship, career advancements, or collaborations. Every time you show up, you’re investing in your professional image. People remember who was present and who contributed, even in small ways. This silent message of dependability can distinguish you from those who are inconsistent or half-hearted in their efforts. 2. Opportunities Are Found Where You Are Present Opportunities rarely come knocking on your door when you're hidden away. They often arise in places where you are least expecting them—at a workshop, seminar, or an informal chat after a meeting. By showing up, you increase your chances of being in the right place at the right time. Imagine attending a conference or joining a project that seems unrelated to your current goals, but through these actions, you meet someone who becomes a future employer or mentor. Or perhaps you discover a new passion or career path you hadn’t considered before. All these possibilities begin with the simple act of being present. 3. Learning Happens in Real-Time While books, tutorials, and online courses provide valuable knowledge, nothing beats real-time, hands-on experience. By showing up, you put yourself in a position to learn through observation, participation, and engagement. Whether you succeed or make mistakes, every experience adds to your personal and professional growth. 4. Networking: Relationships Begin with Presence "Your network is your net worth." The truth in this quote is amplified when you show up. Every professional relationship, be it with a peer, mentor, or potential employer, begins with presence. Face-to-face interactions often leave lasting impressions and are far more effective in building genuine connections than a resume or an email ever could. Networking isn’t just about collecting business cards; it’s about forming meaningful relationships. And relationships form when you’re present and engaged. Showing up is more than just an act of being present—it's an intentional step toward growth, opportunity, and success. It builds trust, creates opportunities, fosters learning, expands networks, and helps cultivate resilience. The professional world can be unpredictable, but one thing remains certain: those who show up stand out. It’s the small, consistent actions today that will shape the extraordinary achievements of tomorrow. Infinite Space_Kenya Wanjiru Kaburu #ShowUp

REFLECTING// After what can only be described as a mad week at my desk, spending Wednesday at Brand You Magazine ‘s #showtime was a welcome break from a heavy schedule of running a series of international focus groups. Now that I’ve had time to decompress and reflect, here are my top takeaways from the day… 👑🐝 Dani Wallace 👑🐝 on finding your tribe: “ We all do well, when we ALL do well” ❤️ Adela Hussain on the power of PR: “Why wait to share your expertise? If you do, you’re denying help to the reader.” 📚 Enfys Maloney: on making progress “Know what it is that is getting in your way and stopping you from achieving success. Your barriers need to be seen to be removed.” 🎉 Viviane Paxinos on how to create success: “We need to focus on both purpose AND profit.”📈 Now time for me to figure out how to incorporate all of this wisdom into the net chapter of my business. Watch this space!

“I'm 70% sure that we will get to the simulation point, which means I think there's a 70% chance we're living inside a simulation.” - Riz Virk If you are interested in the intersection of science fiction, philosophy, and reality, I highly recommend this interview with Riz Virk. Virk has thought deeply about simulation theory and does an excellent job explaining it in simple terms while including several important historical references from quantum physics, science fiction, and world religions to back up his theory. He explains that IF civilizations that are 50 or more years ahead of us already got to where we are now, they could have created a whole bunch of simulations. If you can't tell the difference whether you're in the real world or a simulated world, statistically speaking, it's more likely you're in a simulation than in the real world because there are likely so many more of them. #SimulationHypothesis #FrontierTech #RizVirk #PhilipKDick #AI #FutureTech #SciFiReality #SchrodingersCat #Multiverse #JohnWheeler #DavidDeutsch #ObserverEffect #Consiousness #digitalphysics #Maya #Rumi #Yogananda #Ignoretheconfusion

Tomorrow I'm turning 32 🎉 Instead of writing one of those "32 life lessons on my 32nd birthday" type posts, I'll share one thing I've been reflecting on lately. I think about my 15+ years in hip hop culture and the lessons I've carried over to my profession. There's one lesson that stands out above the rest, that can contribute massively to your continued success... Being memorable. 🔥 Think about it like this: how often do you remember the winners of a TV talent show? It's usually another finalist that captures our hearts and moves on to gain incredible opportunities. Those that are the most memorable stand out from the crowd. Through being their authentic selves and honing their unique qualities in every situation. We remember people and experiences by how they made us feel. And the same thing applies with your work and how you cultivate relationships. If you really want to stand out, and separate yourself from the competition, do things that make you memorable...in a good way of course! 😉 #reflection #lifelessons

On this episode, I am exposing the raw realities of emotions! That's right, I cried 3 times last week and I'm sharing this experience with you all. Building a billion dollar business is stressful and comes with obstacles you can't foresee, but that's what makes it a journey worth while. Just remember, we're all human! Don't let your emotions make you ever think you're not worthy of being a badass. I'd love to know your thoughts about this episode. Don't forget to leave a review!

5 BIG THINGS I learned this week: (1) Headshots. Everybody has an opinion 😎 (2) There's a right way and a wrong way to handle the departure of a valued team member. I am more convinced than ever that the best way is to respect the decision, allow for time to transition, and show appreciation for the time you worked together. (3) Sometimes you've got to test your skills. This week I stepped in to complete several in-depth interviews about a highly technical (technology) project. Guess what? I survived. My client thought they went really well. Now I'm on the hook for about 10 more next week 🙄 (4) And sometimes you've got to let your experts be experts. So grateful for our DSI and IT teams who have really stepped up on this same highly technical (technology) project. They have amazed me with their ability to experiment and engage with the technology, demonstrating a clear understanding of how it works as well as documenting failures and opportunities throughout. (5) Lastly, if you haven't seen the Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon re-creation of Dolly and Kenny singing "Islands in the Stream" you are truly missing out 👇 Onward to another great week. Better understanding. Better decisions. That's KS&R.
