Why are we building monopolies? Isn’t it bad enough that there’s so little competition when it comes to cellular services in this country? We need more towers that serve ALL carriers rather than just one. What is being done to entice companies like Bell and Telus to increase their presence in this region? Stop making this about a single corporation!
Good news! Another tower in service #inFrontenac as part of the Cell Gap Project. This new site will provide service along Hwy 41 Funded by Infrastructure Canada, Ontario's Ministry of Infrastructure and Rogers Communications and the municipalities of Eastern Ontario Wardens' Caucus and Eastern Ontario Mayors' Caucus. Our President, Edwina Flynn and CEO, Michael Savage held a meeting to discuss the strategic importance of addressing the infrastructure deficit in Greater Newry with NIE Networks. They met Derek Hynes, Managing Director and Edel Creery, Head of Communication & Stakeholder Engagement at NIE Networks and outlined the challenges and costs faced by businesses who want to expand and invest in our region. Edwina Flynn, President of Newry Chamber said: "This was a very important meeting for the Chamber and we are grateful to Derek and Edel for taking time out of their very busy schedules to come and meet us in the Chamber Offices in Newry City." “The Chamber is deeply committed to working with the utility operators and suppliers across NI and the Department for Infrastructure to address the legacy of under-investment in our infrastructure in our city and the wider region and this meeting is an important first step in developing the strong relationships that are needed to meet that challenge." Michael Savage, CEO of Newry Chamber added: "Many of our members and those who are seeking to invest in the Greater Newry Area see the costs in securing electricity supply due to capacity issues as a real inhibitor to investment given the sheer scale of the ask and this is a direct result of Government Policy dating back to 2011 which puts the costs of access to the grid firmly at the door of the business or investor." "We now have a clearer picture on what needs to be done and will be engaging with the Department for the Economy NI and the Regulator as well as the political parties over the coming months to lobby for a change in policy that is more conducive to growth and offers the Greater Newry Area a level playing field when it comes to attracting investment and development opportunities to our city and the wider region." ⚡️ In an industry first, we're pledging to support the delivery of more than 1,000 new homes across the north of Scotland, as we aim to play a role in alleviating the region’s housing challenges. 🏘️ As part of our Pathway to 2030 programme – a £20bn investment in energy infrastructure – we’re working with councils and housing organisations to deliver around 400 homes planned for both Highland and Aberdeenshire, and more to come in other areas. This will not only support our workforce during project delivery but will also leave a lasting legacy for local communities once the projects are complete. 🏡 We’re launching our new housing strategy today at the Housing Challenge Summit in Aviemore, developed in partnership with local authorities and housing groups. This approach could set a new standard for infrastructure projects across the country. ➡️ Read the full story to learn more about how we’re making a real difference in the communities we serve: https://lnkd.in/enH5ksYV #NetworkForNetZero #Energy #Infrastructure #Transmission

The Northern and Western Regional Assembly's presentation at the "CIF Network West" event highlighted a stark disparity in regional transport infrastructure. Ranking 218th out of 234 European regions underscores how far the Northern & Western region of Ireland has fallen behind in connectivity, investment, and infrastructure development compared to its European counterparts. This low ranking not only hampers economic opportunities but also undermines social and regional cohesion. Enhanced infrastructure is essential for attracting investment, improving the movement of goods and people, and fostering overall regional growth. Addressing this critical issue must be a top priority for the new government to ensure the region can compete effectively on the European stage. #cif #infrastructure #civilconstruction

Interesting to read the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero monthly statistics confirming a further 368 properties have been upgraded under the HUG2 scheme in August, giving a total of 2,956 so far ... HUG2 has certainly been a tough nut to crack! but I couldn't be prouder of AgilityEco's role in supporting local authorities to deliver over 25% of these figures. (Subject to confirmation of the funding pot!) the newly announced Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme will allow a fantastic opportunity to utilise the expertise developed on HUG2 for delivery at a far larger scale - at it's peak the LAD scheme delivered 3604 properties in a month! so we know there is huge demand for this much needed support.
