Need (or want) to pull 1 more deal forward into September? This is the 2-step flow I’ve used dozens of times. I know of no better way to pull a deal forward into this quarter. ******************** Step 1: figure out if this opp CAN be pulled forward “Hey I want to float something by you – how are you thinking about the timing of potentially getting kicked off with us? Like actually being live and up and running?” Like if you have a 30 day onboarding period and they say sometime in November/December, it’s a potentially good candidate. Obv they also need to want your product. ******************** Step 2: (A) Give a reason for why you want them to expedite (B) Offer them something of real value in exchange (C) Make the difference between when they NEED to sign by and when you WANT them to sign by seem small “ Okay so if we want to be live by the end of November at the absolute latest, that means we need to get the agreement signed sometime in October. And this might be totally crazy so just let me know if it is… But do you think it would be impossible to get the agreement in place in September? [(A) the reason] The reason I ask is because obviously we’re a quarterly driven business and we have a very important board meeting coming up in October and we’re trying to bring on as many new customers as possible beforehand… [(B) the offer] …so we have a bit of flexibility around commercial terms. [(C) make the difference seem small] So if you’re thinking ‘well we need to get started soon, we might be game to expedite review of the agreement a week or two faster than we otherwise might if there was a real incentive to do so’, it could be good timing. [(B) the offer, again] Do you think it’s worth looking at September pricing vs October pricing if we were able to get everything wrapped up a week or a couple weeks faster than we otherwise might? “ ******************** Would you add anything else for folks scrambling to get one last deal? ******************** Btw, a big favor? Not another thought piece on "How great experience wins customers" you groan... well, I'll have to insist on sharing when it's true 😄 . However, sparing you a TLDR article, I'll get straight to the point. It's the little things that win you customers. It's the little things that transform you from a faceless brand, to a company with real people behind it. Case in point: I recently ordered a few things from this company called Normcore. They mentioned on the online advert that you get a 5% discount for your first order. I have been eyeing their black portafilter for awhile and thought, what the heck, early Xmas present. promptly went to their site, registered and ordered. But in my excitement of ordering and dreaming of my soon to be brewed espresso in this all matt black gear (I'm convinced it will taste 100% better).. I forgot to key in the 5% discount code. I only realised this several days later, and decided to email them. In my mind, I was already prepared for the reply saying "Sorry, your order has been processed..." or "Sorry, the offer is only allowed when you first submitted..." or "Sorry, our system does not allow to apply a discount code retrospectively..." (this one is my favourite BTW. Always blame the system). But you know where this is going already. A few days later I received a polite reply asking me to confirm the order details, in a very human "Hi, is this your order?". I said yes. And lo and behold, a few days later "Here's your updated invoice. Discount has been refunded." Nice. Normcore, congratulations, you now have a new loyal customer. #normcore #customerexperience https://lnkd.in/gnAHm_K3
