From California.com: Street art in Los Angeles transcends the traditional gallery space, bringing art to the public in a way that is accessible and unmediated. This democratization of art allows for a unique intersection of voices, from renowned international artists to local creatives, each contributing to the city's visual narrative. The murals, graffiti, and installations that adorn L.A.'s urban landscape are more than mere aesthetics; they are stories told on the canvas of the city itself, reflecting the dreams, struggles, and resilience of its inhabitants. The cultural significance of L.A.'s street art can be traced back to the Chicano Art Movement of the 1960s and 70s, where murals became a form of political expression and cultural affirmation for the Mexican-American community. Today, this tradition continues as street art addresses a plethora of themes, from social justice and environmental concerns to the celebration of cultural heritage and personal identity. 🌠Street art is a dynamic and often provocative form of visual expression found in public spaces, typically on buildings, sidewalks, and other urban surfaces. Street artists use a variety of techniques, including spray paint, stencils, wheatpasting, and stickers, to create their works. Unlike traditional art forms confined to galleries and museums, street art is accessible to everyone, making it a powerful medium for social commentary and community engagement.✨ 🌠The motivations behind street art vary widely. Some artists aim to beautify urban environments, transforming drab, neglected spaces into vibrant works of art. Others use street art to challenge societal norms, address political issues, or give voice to marginalized communities. The ephemeral nature of street art, often subject to weathering or removal, adds a layer of urgency and immediacy to the message conveyed.✨ 🌠Notable street artists, such as Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, have elevated the status of street art, blurring the lines between street and fine art. These artists often incorporate elements of satire, irony, and activism into their works, encouraging viewers to question their surroundings and think critically about contemporary issues.✨ 🌠Overall, street art is a vibrant, ever-evolving form of cultural expression that reflects the diversity, creativity, and complexities of urban life.✨

Time Horizon; visiting the sculptures of Anthony Gormley in Norfolk. It wasn’t immediately apparent but all 100 sculptures are located along the same horizontal datum within the grounds of the estate. It’s just the landscape levels that change, giving the impression that the sculptures are raised above or sunk into the earth. So it is with the design of Interiors : the reasoning behind the setting out of the internal architecture, fixtures and fittings is not always clear but is so important to the success of a project. https://lnkd.in/edPiKnEt
