This World Food Day, we are taking the time to reflect on and raise awareness of an ever-growing issue: food insecurity continues to rise in Canada and more than 1 in 4 children is food insecure. We know that kids will be kids, and being a picky eater is just a part of growing up We know this because parents told us! Some kids want peanut butter on pickles. Others will only eat dinosaur-shaped food. And some believe that strawberry yogurt can’t have strawberries in it. But for those 1 in 4 children — parents are grappling with the difficult reality that they are just struggling to put food on the table. That’s why our new Maple Leaf campaign identifies a bold mission: Let’s build a future where every kid can eat like a kid. Watch the video below, and visit https://ow.ly/G4OM50TM6ZW to learn more.

As Earth Day approaches, are your food choices reflecting the future you want to see for humans and non-human animals? 🌍 You can radically reduce your dietary water consumption by going vegan, because growing plant foods requires far less water than producing animal products. 📉 Visit Foodispower.org to take a stand for the planet and the animals. 🌱

This is important to highlight because there is no way to slaughter -and raise- this astronomically unprecedented number of animals without destroying the natural ecosystem. Destroying the natural ecosystem threatens the lives of wildlife and human beings. Tu turn this around and fast (we don't have much time before irreversible ecological damage) "a radical reduction" as stated above is no exaggeration of what needs to be done.

Baby raccoons, like adults, are omnivorous and exhibit a diet that includes a variety of foods. In the wild, as they grow, they learn to eat whatever their mother teaches them to scavenge and hunt! Some common favorites among baby raccoons include... 👇 🐛 Insects: Easy to catch and high in protein, insects like crickets, beetles, and worms are often consumed by young raccoons learning to forage. 🥝 Fruits: Soft, sweet, and nutritious, fruits like berries, apples, and grapes are favored by baby raccoons. These are easy to eat and digest. 🥜 Nuts: As they develop their dexterity, baby raccoons may start trying to crack open nuts such as acorns or peanuts, though they might struggle with harder shells at a very young age. 🦇 Small Animals: Depending on their age and size, they might start eating small rodents or fish, provided by the mother or found deceased, as they learn hunting skills. 🥚 Eggs: Easy to consume and found in nests, eggs are a significant source of nourishment for baby raccoons. 🍕 Human Food Scraps: If near urban areas, baby raccoons quickly develop a taste for accessible human food scraps, which can include anything from pieces of bread to bits of meat.
