"Every Child Deserves a Better Tomorrow" We often witness heartbreaking scenes where orphaned children, filled with hope and hunger, search for leftover food to survive. This is a harsh reality that none of us should ignore. Imagine the difference we can make if we step up to provide fresh, nutritious meals to these children instead of letting them rely on discarded scraps. Small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact on their lives, ensuring they grow up with dignity and health. Let us take a moment to reflect on our responsibilities as a society. If we have the ability to help, let’s act! Support an orphanage, volunteer, or simply share a meal with a child in need. Together, we can bring a positive change. Let’s nurture a world where no child goes hungry or feels abandoned. #OrphanCare #SocialResponsibility #EndChildHunger

We were in my hometown on this horrific day - 6 years ago. We had worshipped in this synagogue at bar mitzvahs. Any of us could have been there that day. Today in Pittsburgh, people of all faiths join together, through service and volunteering, to remember the eleven people who were senselessly murdered. We all stand in solidarity with the survivors, the families of those who were killed, and all those who have been impacted by this act of hate-motivated violence.

“Don’t worry, Mom, it’s just the teacher pretending to be the bad guy—it isn’t real.” Until it is. This was a conversation I had not even a month ago with my 7 year old following an intruder drill. Do you know how many times this conversation has replayed in my head, PRAYING it never becomes a reality? Yesterday a school shooting took place far too close to home—22 minutes away, to be exact—at another local Christian school. I have shared many stories about my daughter’s private Christian school here on LinkedIn, and while her school wasn’t directly affected, this tragedy feels deeply personal. My heart aches for the children, families, and educators impacted by this unimaginable event. As a parent, I am navigating a flood of emotions: grief, fear, and a desperate desire to do something. These events remind us that the safety of our children, in every sense of the word, is one of the most fundamental needs—and yet, as a society, we often find ourselves asking: How can we do better? 1. Support educators. Reach out to the teachers and staff in your schools. They carry a tremendous emotional burden, and a simple check-in can make a difference. 2. Connect with your children. Love them, listen to them, and reassure them in these uncertain times. 3. Engage with your school leadership. Learn what safety measures are in place and ask how you can help. Volunteer your time, talents, or resources to be part of the solution. 4. Foster emotional intelligence. Teach children (and ourselves) that it’s okay to feel big emotions—and equip them with tools to process and act on those feelings in healthy ways. We each have a role to play, no matter how small it feels. While I don’t have all the answers, I believe we can all be part of building stronger, safer communities by showing up for one another and refusing to let these tragedies become the norm. To my professional network: How do you navigate fear and uncertainty as a parent, leader, or community member? What steps can we take together to create safer spaces for our children? The world is a scary place. Don’t navigate the “scary” alone.
We’re thinking of our friends in Wisconsin today. ❤️ There are many ways to remind children impacted by community violence that they’re safe and loved. Click here for free resources to help children and families in troubling times: https://lnkd.in/e_sv87Dh

Some of us are blessed to wake up on Christmas morning with a room full of love, laughter, and family. The call of our children early in the morning, their voices full of energy and excitement. For me, it’s my very most favorite holiday for those very same reasons. I love traditions and more than anything I love my children and seeing their smiles on Christmas morning. Not everyone has this privilege. Think about children who have been recently removed from their homes, feeling uncertainty, feeling lost and a terrible feeling of grief, not knowing what has happened, not understanding why they are suddenly in a strangers home. Not understanding why “Mom” is not there, wondering where their brother or sister went, why are they not together? Confused about how nice the people are in this new home, but sad because it’s not their home, it’s not their bed, they don’t have their favorite comforting blanket and plush toy. The smell is different, the food looks different, it’s not what “Mom” cooks. Just imagine… This is the feeling of the hundreds of children placed in Foster Care and Residential homes everyday. Its not much compared to all that they have lost, but together we can help share a little joy during the most magical time of the year. Together we can make wishes come true and hope that in someway we have touch the life of a child when they need it most, together we can make a difference! Let’s spread joy together! When participating in Secret Santa you are helping a child in need, who like other children, have wishes and “maybe” a little hope. Interested? Email SecretSanta@HelixHumanServices.org with your interest. We will do our best to match your preferred age and gender. You can help by requesting one wish list and purchasing items on the list. Each wish list is written by each child/youth. I have to say - full disclosure- its fun to see how creative children can get, but sad to see wishes you can fulfill, like “I wish I could see my dad” or “I want to be with my sister”. Other ways to help is making a monetary donation (we do the shopping for you), hosting a toy drive or giving tree, or purchasing an item (or a few) from the Secret Santa Amazon Wish List. Have any questions? Lets chat! To learn more about Helix Human Services and the children and families we serve: www.HelixHumanServices.org To make a monetary donation or learn more about Secret Santa visit: https://lnkd.in/e5MEGNST To see the Amazon Wish List visit (remember as wish lists come in the list of items increases): Link coming soon. Thank you for helping make wishes come true!

TV & Radio Personality | Keynote & Workshop Speaker | CHANGE CHAMPION that speaks on the topic of Leading Change, Communicating Change, and How to Change | Both C-Suite & Entry Level Workers can Benefit
Since I was young, I've had a heart for children with less fortunate circumstances. Whether that misfortune came in the form of a physical disability, broken home, or no home at all I've always felt compassion for children with these circumstances. Part of the reason for feeling this way is my gratitude for the what I possessed, which these children did not. That's why in 2017 I started delivering birthday cakes to homeless children in Detroit on their birthdays. We created a partnership with the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries who serves over 2,000 homeless everyday. Unfortunately, we needed to hit the pause button when the world shut down in 2020, but we are now looking to resurrect this give-back for these homeless children on their special days (birthday). 10% of the proceeds from every keynote and workshop I do will directly benefit these homeless children in Detroit. Allow me the opportunity to help you Change Like a Champion while also helping the homeless children at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries. #giveback #keynotespeaker #workshops #homeless #birthdaycakes Leland K.
