Is micromobility the future of urban transport? Micromobility isn't just a trend, it has fundamentally transformed how we move in cities and will continue to do so. 2023 marked a significant transition for the micromobility sector, driven more by financial necessity than choice. Operators secured their futures through mergers, while others faced challenges. Some innovated with new offerings, designs, and business models. A study by Fluctuo revealed that dockless bike ridership surged by over 50% in 2023 in Europe, surpassing scooters, which led the market until then. Station-based bikes and free-floating cars also saw substantial growth. Shared micromobility alone accounted for 600 million trips with 930,000 vehicles https://lnkd.in/deaCzMwF Looking ahead, economic viability and raw material challenges for batteries are key. Despite Europe's rise in light electric vehicle production, over 95% of batteries come from Asia. With battery demand expected to triple by 2030, strategic planning is crucial. At EIT Urban Mobility, we're launching a study later this month to promote repair, reuse, and recycling initiatives, driving more innovation to this micromobility sector. Join me at the #MicromobilityEuropeconference, founded by Horace Dediu, to discuss the future of this exciting industry!

Great article by Dr. Regina Lee Clewlow for Forbes Highlighting the origins of micromobility as well as the need for incentivization within the current day. It will be crucial in the upcoming years to incorporate micromobility as an option via public transit systems & for partnerships to exist between the two industries. This will further incentivize subscription-based models and work to resolve the divide in transportation. As the #micromobility lifecycle is constantly evolving, some key themes remain: - #Innovation - #Incentivization - Quick #GTM / #TTM - #Regulation - #Retention

Mobility as a Service! Today we had the honor to meet with Peter K. at our SURE Mobility Headquarters in Harderwijk. Together we exchanged thoughts concerning sustainable mobility of LEV's. The accelerated adoption of electric shared mobility for the business and recreational market is related to ease of use and accessibility of the e-vehicles. The SURE Dock, Lock, Charge solution ensures accessibility of use, a smart and easy charging solution and complete fleet management that completely unburdens every employer. At SURE Mobility, we work on the future of mobility with great ambition. One transition we are focused on is the way people move within cities. We see that mobility hubs are going to play an important role in this, which is why we are developing innovative mobility hub concepts in which you can also play an essential part. We are working with our partners INTIS Integrated Infrastructure Solutions GmbH and SUNOVERA to design and realise a plan for the implementation of mobility hubs. Our mobility hubs come in three versions: *Basic Hub *Extensive Hub *One Stop Shop Each level provides unique services, but all of them offer opportunities to dock, lock, and charge light electric vehicles (LEVs). Our mobility hubs also come with fully closed or semi-closed bike shelters, air pumps, service and repair tool sets, and more. We believe that collaborations with companies and organizations with different competencies is key to the success of mobility hub concepts. Be sure, ride SURE! #work #design #future #success #opportunities #people #university #students #electricvehicles #science #experience #sustainable #business

Embarking on a transformative exploration of the last-mile delivery landscape, Nordic Co-operation for the Environment and Climate in conjunction with i-smile have created a report that takes you on a journey through the intricacies and innovations that define our industry! For us at Packaly, this research into Light Electric Freight Vehicles (LEFVs) was most interesting. As it dives deep into defining LEFVs and presents various case studies, showcasing their operational prowess across diverse companies in urban last-mile deliveries. These real-world examples provide a tangible understanding of how LEFVs are reshaping the way goods are transported in our cities. The report doesn't stop there – they discuss development and innovation within the last-mile delivery landscape, dissecting media reports and various business models that are shaping the future. Sustainability takes center stage with an emphasis on the profound impact of innovation on the last-mile landscape. It's not just about reducing CO2 emissions, but also the connections between environmental and social factors. It aims to consider their effects on urban spaces and adopt a socio-technical approach to sustainable last-mile delivery. As we navigate a world shaped by climate change, geopolitical unrest, and the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, this report offers a roadmap for balance. The Nordic Innovation i-Smile project provides a beacon of hope, focusing on LEFVs, particularly electric cargo bikes, as a sustainable solution for urban last-mile transport. Join us in envisioning a future where LEFVs lead the way, reducing emissions, noise, and congestion while keeping our economy, environment, and social conditions in harmonious balance.
