We are pleased to introduce the newest member of the Global Defense & Security team - Mike Palasics, Operations Manager!
Mike grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, earning his degree in Criminology and Business Administration from Ohio University. After graduation, he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, where he began his active-duty career as a Student Naval Aviator. Eventually, Mike moved to work logistics and supply chain operations for the Marines.
Mike left active duty last December to pursue a Manufacturing Management role with Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL. After learning about Cambium and getting to meet the Global Defense & Security team in Tampa, it was clear that he was a perfect fit for the team.
We are excited to have Mike as part of our team - looking forward to it!

💯 "A lot of our training is focused on ethics and character building, and that’s all important. But that next step is how do you transform an organization? What can I do? What can I say? That’s the kind of training I think we need to get a little bit more into," CAPT Chris “Chowdah” Hill .

In-depth with CAPT Chris “Chowdah” Hill about the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69)'s grueling and dangerous deployment that faced a bevy of new tactical realities.
"I note here that "I think it’s important to go big and not be afraid to use terms like ‘to love and value,’ and then really understand what mission and purpose is, and truly understand what morale is. In naval regulations, the commanding officer is required to care about the morale of his people. But the thing is, we don’t really teach how to do that, right? Ah yes, the Naval Bridge Simulator aka the most involved video game you'll ever play. Expect to log many hours on these stone ships before you even step foot on a real HMC Ship. You'll learn to navigate the ship, use the bridge equipement effectively and work with your bridge team to keep the whole ship safe while conducting naval operations at sea. All of this without even leaving the school!
The coolest part about them? They are not just for trainees. The simulator will be a big part of your entire naval officer career as you progress through being a junior officer, a BWK, a department head and director. As you prepare for Command the bridge simulator will take on a whole new perspective while you learn to get comfortable sitting in "the Chair."
Being a Naval Warfare Officer is one of the most demanding jobs available in the Canadian Armed Forces. But you are well prepared in training and the bridge simulator is just one of these vectors.
“Port 30, set speed one-five!”
Another milestone achieved on the journey to becoming an Officer of the Watch! Reserve Naval Warfare Officers have the opportunity to complete their training in multiple modules. Throughout this training, they gain navigation skills, develop leadership, and learn about essential operating procedures and life on ship.

🎖️ Happy 249th Birthday to the U.S. Marine Corps! 🎖️
Today, we celebrate the dedication and service of the Marines. For business owners and entrepreneurs, there’s a lot we can learn from the values of the Corps: commitment, discipline, and resilience.
As we honor the Marines, here are some practical business takeaways inspired by their values:
1️⃣ Commitment to Mission: Just like the Marines, staying focused on your mission and values can help guide tough business decisions.
2️⃣ Build a Strong Team: The success of any business, like any unit, depends on trust and teamwork. Investing in team morale can lead to long-term gains.
3️⃣ Adapt and Overcome: Every business faces challenges; resilience in the face of adversity is key to thriving.
To all who’ve served and to those who bring these principles to their businesses every day – we thank you.

Retired Navy CAPT Steve Deal discusses how investments in education programs such as those at the U.S. Naval Community College could help develop long-term talent for the naval services, including at shipyards.
"It is well past time to reimagine our education and training capacities for national security. A positive recent outcome of such nascent thinking is the creation of the U.S. Naval Community College (USNCC), where sailors and Marines now earn associate degrees in fields that matter for their futures and the nation.
The modern-day shipyard bus could be training like the USNCC provides, but at a much larger scale — for government and uniformed servants alike. First-term enlistments could be converted into decades-long careers at our shipyards and other defense-related technical production centers. Continued service in the reserves can be further incentivized, concurrently providing an augmented civilian pension along with a military retirement as other federal workers earn today."

The objective of this initiative is to encourage U.S. Navy Sailors worldwide to share their positive encounters in naval service with eligible candidates and offer referrals based on these interactions.

Today, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge on the U.S. Naval Community College. I encourage all Naval Leaders to read these interesting facts and nominate a creditable Sailor from their command.
USNCC provides naval-relevant associate degree levels and stackable certificates in naval-relevant fields to enlisted service members. It
became established in 2021 in order to progress war fighting skills capability.
Partnering with regionally accredited universities, its goal is to remain responsive to the fleet through emerging Navy programs and needs such as leadership, engineering, data analytics, cybersecurity, aviation and many more.
It does not limit service members to in rate only specific classes. It does not touch TA or GI Bill funding. It does not require a specific time in service. It’s 100% funded.
To enroll:
-command nomination or apply online
-application screened
-command approves
-candidate notified of admissions and next steps
#MondayMotivation: If you want to change the world, start by making your bed. ~Admiral William H. McRaven, U.S. Special Operations Command
That was the first of 10 quirky lessons Admiral McRaven had gleaned from his time training as a Navy Seal and passed on to the 2014 graduating class at the University of Texas at Austin. He further went on to say...
“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and encourage you to do another task, and another, and another."
If you haven't seen Admiral McRaven's memorable commencement address, it's well worth watching. Here's the link. https://lnkd.in/g2JZ5h52
