The world is stupid, according to the Biden Administration. American politics and law are all about ambiguity and hypocrisy. Ms. Linda Greenfield-Thomas should be ashamed to represent a "wordplay" on ceasefire while nearly two million people are dying from a genocidal, military bombardment and man-made famine. The Biden Administration is taking the US down a rabbit hole where Americans will no longer be respected, and our words will have no more meaning. It was not long ago that Netanyahu came to America to disrespect then-president Obama at the invitation of a group of Republicans. Netanyahu is a racist and extremist who is taking Israel into a dark hole, and Biden is supporting him. The President must follow the will of the American people who want an end to this genocidal war, not the will of a foreign government or a foreign leader, especially a foreign leader who is a racist and extremist. Biden could have ended this war long ago before the death toll reached over 30,000. Chuck Schumer woke up. Greenfield-Thomas should also wake up. Every nation member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) voted for forcing a ceasefire in Gaza; Every nation, including Britain, Japan, and France. The lone voter against was the United States. It was very dark and sad image to watch. The only member nation, represented by Robert Wood, a Black American, to raise a hand against an opportunity to save the lives of women, children, and elderly. It was an affront to every Black American who shares a history of apartheid, lynchings, and anti-Black racism in a Jim Crow America. It was the middle finger to every American who has lost a relative to police violence, killed for driving or jogging while Black, and experienced systemic racism. Robert Wood must face his community and explain his role as "Stephen" in Joe Biden's White House. It is troubling to know the higher a person ranks, the less he remembers his roots. I am sure that every UNSC member-nation representative is probably in shock as they attempt to understand Wood. The United Nations has various resolutions addressing the rights of people to self-determination and to oppose occupation, but a key resolution is UN General Assembly Resolution 1514 (1960), which emphasizes the right of all peoples to self-determination and to seek independence from colonial or foreign domination. Additionally, UN Security Council Resolution 242 (1967) talks about the withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the Six-Day War, which relates to issues of occupation and rights to land.

Humanitarian assistance is urgently needed in Gaza, and any means of delivery should be welcomed in the short term, but let's be clear-eyed about what the current options being advanced by the U.S. are: a means of relieving the pressure on Israel to open the crossings into Gaza and to allow the free-flow of humanitarian assistance required under international law. There is a trap here, too. Israel's Foreign Minister said in November that Israel has no intention of re-opening the land crossings after the conflict. Gaza's economy is dependent on the export of goods and services via those land crossings, and the creation of a uni-directional (i.e. import-only) temporary sea-port will only reinforce Israel's ability to keep the land crossings closed, cutting off Gaza's economy and further isolating Palestinians in Gaza from Palestinians in the West Bank.
