“You really do have to break some boundaries to make a difference in terms of diversity.” – Tony Hall In my latest interview for Nurole, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tony Hall CBE, Lord Hall of Birkenhead, Chair of the Natural History Museum and a prominent leader and advocate across arts and #culture. Our conversation explored Tony’s perspective on balancing commercial and social goals, along with the evolving responsibilities of #board members in cultural organisations. Throughout his remarkable career, Tony has served as Director-General of the BBC, CEO of the Royal Ballet and Opera, and now as Chair of the Board at the Natural History Museum. His insights reflect a lifetime dedicated to advancing accessibility in the arts and elevating diverse voices within the sector. Some key takeaways from our conversation include: - The importance of mission and #purpose; on a cultural board, passion is as essential as professional expertise, and helps the board to navigate commercial interests alongside values-driven access work. - #Diverse board memberships that represent a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and socioeconomic experiences can serve communities and audiences more effectively. When you are aligned on a mission, the importance of #inclusivity becomes clear. Furthermore, a well-rounded board should bring varied expertise—including digital, marketing, and fundraising skills—to help the organisation navigate contemporary challenges. - Serving as a board #Chair requires more than good governance skills; it is the Chair’s responsibility to guide open, meaningful discussions that balance executive and #trustee responsibilities. Fostering a culture of honest communication is a critical skill for Chairs to hone. Read the full interview to gain more of Tony’s hard-earned thoughts on leadership in the cultural sector: https://lnkd.in/e6xMtJae #BoardLeadership #ArtsAndCulture #DiversityInLeadership #CulturalOrganizations

This month, I'm working with a national association to create their strategic direction and priorities. I’ve worked with them to launch a Statice-designed survey of their membership and key opinion leaders, prepare high-level observations and will facilitate an in-person meeting of their Board of Directors. Our partnership will be an opportunity for this organization to . . ✔️ Align with the benefits and priorities their membership values. ✔️ Strengthen them as an organization. ✔️ Align their strategic plan with their budget and resources. ✔️ Create a detailed list of next steps to take this organization to the next level. The Bottom Line: Identifying the issues that are important to your members and developing related programs and policies are key components of any membership association. #ExecutiveCoach #Associations #Membership

In the welcoming and inspiring venue of Vorres Museum, surrounded by unique expressions of our cultural heritage and our nation's modern forward-thinking exhibits, CEO Clubs Greece welcomed more than 300 participants, CEOs-Club Members and their executive teams, to its 32nd Forum, focusing on "High-Performance Leadership: A Matter of Trust". Over the past 15 years, the Club's Forums have evolved into an institution, a reference point for the CEOs in Greece, addressing topics in a unique way, blending theory and practice and setting the foundation for the sustainable, effective, and meaningful development of leadership in our country. The importance of Trust in connection to Leadership was analyzed with the help of three keynote speakers of international acclaim: Duncan Stevens, Andy Atkins and Dimitris Dimitriadis and a vibrant panel discussion among CEOs-Club Members offered practical insights into the theoretical background: Christina Alevizou, Achilleas Aggelopoulos, Fotini Karageorgi, Iakovos Michalitsis and Andonis Papagiannakopoulos, moderated by Dr. Polydefkis Loukopoulos. "I invite you all to be part of the paradigm-shifting that we are co-creating here today," said Georgia Kartsanis, Founder and President of CEO Clubs Greece, in her welcoming address. "We often take Trust for granted, yet it is one of the most important foundations of leadership, our compass when we navigate through unchartered territory, and the beacon that helps us define the path forward. My personal wish and goal is that, by the end of the Forum today, we will all perceive trust not as a luxury or a utopia but as one of the most vital elements that helps successfully lead our teams and organizations into the future” #CΕΟClubsGreece #CeoClubsForum #HighPerformanceLeadership #SustainableLeadership #Trust #CoCreation #FutureThinking #GlobalLeadership #CEOClubsMembers #CEOClubsCommunity #GlobalEliteNetwork #ExecutiveManagementTeams

"Take a 5-minute smile break and then get back to work." That's what I heard a CEO say, and even though it was said in a light hearted way, it can take on a different meaning than intended when said by the company's top executive. While this column by Rachel Feintzeig in The Wall Street Journal is more about the pressure professionals place on themselves, I can't help but wonder what that stems from? CEOs and #CSuite leaders set the tone and culture for their organizations, so is the inability for some to sustain the feeling they derive from big wins and achievements somehow tied to organizational culture? 👉 "You're only as good as your last game." 👉 "What have you done for us lately?" We say or hear those often in work and life, but do they take on different meanings depending on who says them? And when? 💡 What can we do when we're the one's putting that pressure on ourselves? I don't have the answers, but there are a few sturdy pointers in this piece. For me, it's important to be #selfaware when we start feeling a lull, and give ourselves some #grace - knowing that the highs we feel when achieving a big win are not sustainable. And, get comfortable with #failing, it'll happen more frequently than the successes. If you'd like to read Rachel's column but don't have a WSJ subscription, message me. I can unlock it for you.
