How embarrassing is this! Here is #BillShorten launching his 'NDIS policy' in 2022 before the last election. He has now been Minister for #NDIS for 2 full years and hasn't solved a single problem he identified 2 years ago.
More than that, he has made most things #worse, squeezing the things that didn't need to be squeezed while leaving the deep #structural conflicts of interest untouched.
Shorten's answer back then was #BetterManagement. This is Labor's creed -#managerialism is the path to social justice and happy citizens. This is so deeply delusional that you don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Shorten has never understood the #core idea of NDIS - which came from the #selfdetermination movement in disability across the UK and North America in the 1980s and 1990s. The principle here was a simple one: good supports for PWD can never be delivered by a bureaucracy because the support needs of each PWD are #unique and are known only to each person and their loved ones. Therefore, support funding should take the form of an individual budget assigned to each PWD, with each person having maximum choice and control over the use of that funding to advance their #participation in society.
And central to the insights that came from this movement was the finding that PWD in full control tend to #underspend their budgets. Top-heavy managerial scrutiny is counter-productive - it undermines choice and delivers worse outcomes. When you are not in control of something, you tend to abuse it. When it is yours, you look after it.
In this 2022 speech, Bill Shorten made no mention, not even in passing, that self-determination is the #name of the game in disability support, not managerialism. He doesn't get this. He never has.
It is almost #sad to watch a man so out of his depth, floundering in self-delusion and ideological fairyland. Labor people seem to genuinely believe that managerialism and big bureaucratic systems can be made to work simply by #wishing them to work well. Somehow the #designflaws and structural #conflicts of interest can be wished away.
In practice, of course, this never happens. The real world intrudes rather brutally to extinguish their wish. NDIS is emblematic of Labor #naivete and #incompetence.
In #DemocracyFirst we will support a string of grassroots campaigners in challenging Labor and Liberal failure in NDIS and every other area of policy.
In Australian politics, we surrounded by #ignorance, #incompetence and ideological #blindness. It is time for a movement of grassroots Australians to sweep it away. It's Time.

1. #Promise = commit to urgently reducing insecure labour hire arrangements

2. #Promise = stop the waste – excessive use of external lawyers

3. #Promise = fix the planning pathway
#BrokenPromise = highest ever planner to participant ratio of 1 planner to 280 participants. The planning pathway is clogged with only one Participant Service Guarantee (PSG) legislated timeframes met @30 Mar 2024 - #NDIACEO's own report says it all. Don't get fooled, it’s not all about the new system as plan reassessments have continued to be subpar causing harm, frustration to participants since 2022. There are also now more eligible participants (after access decision) waiting for a plan than ever before see post on that here. A bit of a mess and #Fail#NDIACEOKurt Fearnleyhttps://lnkd.in/gKbZ-i49
4. #Promise = will co-design changes to the #NDIS with people with disability and the sector
#BrokenPromise = #NDISBill2024 put forward to Parliament without any co-design work and without Draft exposure legislation for the #BackwardsBill and accompanying Draft Transitional Rule, other Rules and Operating Instruments. Locked up discussion through #NDAs. Now having to be re-worked in haste, with amendment after amendment. #FailDepartment of Social Services (DSS)#TruthtoPowerRenee F.

Was RAVEC involved in the decision-making process? (I doubt it)
Did Swift pay for this protection or the UK tax payer? (No doubt the UK Tax payer)
On what grounds was RAVEC policy over ruled given their stance on Prince Harry's protection? (Most likely none)
There needs to be an investigation into this and Prince Harry's lawyers need to be all over it. The Met's justification for not providing Harry's protection is unbalance given former PM's continue to receive until their dying days and where the threat against Harry is far greater.
The provision of protection to Swift appears to be nothing short of downright hypocritical in the least and an underhand, dirty approach involving cronyism and deep-rooted service for favours/ freebies. Swift has her own protection team; the threat against her would have had to have been substantial, real and imminent to warrant any UK government intervention - and if that was the case then the concerts should have been postponed or cancelled whilst an investigation took place to mitigate the threat. Yet, the first 100 days of this Government has shown that the same old Labour hypocrisy is in full play, and this is merely another example.
