📢 Great news: EVI-led project #VAC2VAC contributes to reducing #AnimalTesting! The European Pharmacopoeia is discontinuing the rabbit pyrogen testing. 🐰🚫 The EVI-led VAC2VAC project (www.vac2vac.eu) was key in replacing it with an in vitro alternative for vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV). Our B2i Digital featured company, Jaguar Health (NASDAQ: JAGX), provided an update on its human and animal health programs in an exclusive interview with Pharmaceutical Technology. Link to article: https://lnkd.in/eFHK3vVb CEO Lisa Conte shared that topline results from the pivotal Phase 3 trial of their drug Mytesi (crofelemer) for cancer therapy-related diarrhea are expected in the first half of this year. Conte also stated that Jaguar is considering options like partnerships and financing as they look ahead to filing a supplemental New Drug Application later in 2024, with a potential approval decision 6-9 months after filing. Jaguar is also advancing Canalevia, the animal health version of crofelemer. Canalevia received conditional FDA approval in 2021 as the first oral drug for chemotherapy-induced diarrhea in dogs. The company recently aligned with the FDA on a protocol for a study to support full approval.“As long as we complete the field study before 2026, our conditional approval will become a full approval,” Conte noted. Re: MJBiz “The real work starts after you leave the conference.” Here’s what I do to make sure MJBizCon isn’t just a blur of business cards and conversations: 1. I Organize My Contacts While They’re Still Fresh Before I even get on the plane home, I take some time to go through all the cards and connections I made. I jot down a quick note about what we talked about or why I wanted to connect. It’s way easier to remember “met at the Sensi party, talked about East Coast retail expansion” now than trying to figure it out two weeks later. 2. I Don’t Let It Get Stale I try to send follow-up emails within a week, while the event is still fresh in everyone’s mind. The key is keeping it personal — referencing our conversation and offering something useful, whether that’s a resource, an intro, or just a “great to meet you, let’s keep in touch.” 3. I Look for Ways to Add Value I’m not following up to pitch right away — that’s not my style. Instead, I look for ways to be helpful. Maybe it’s sharing a tool I use, connecting them with someone in my network, or even just cheering them on with whatever they’re working on. 4. I Actually Use What I Learned It’s easy to leave a conference fired up but then fall back into the day-to-day grind. I make a point of reviewing my notes and figuring out what I can realistically implement. Sometimes it’s a small tweak; sometimes it’s a bigger strategy. Either way, I try not to let the inspiration fade. 5. I Stay in the Loop MJBizCon is just the beginning of the conversation. I stay engaged with the people I met by following their work, commenting on their posts, and showing up to other events. Relationships don’t build themselves; they take time and consistency.
