Because the accent or right pronunciation issue of teaching or training culture in language learning is in fact the prime cause to create shyness, fear and disappointment among the learners and ultimately destroy their desire and dream to learn speak English and it also true for the learners of any other foreign languages are taught through English! Do you have the right incentives in place to encourage the culture & behaviour your institution needs? Or have you just been getting lucky that people go above and beyond? It is so important that we take the time to celebrate the tireless student success champions among us. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Other campuses should take note: who has provided critical internal leadership but never been appreciated publicly? Take a page from Virginia Commonwealth University leadership (Fotis Sotiropoulos & Michael Rao) and make intentional steps to recognize people going above and beyond so you continue to build the culture your students need.
Congratulations to Dr. Daphne Rankin and Dr. Inta "Maggie" Tolan for receiving Virginia Commonwealth University's 1st Generation Champion Award, and the Student Success Provost Award. These awards are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and commitment to student success! #StudentSuccess #HigherEducation #AwardWinners #VCU Alison Steigerwald Dr. Bridget Burns, University Innovation Alliance (UIA), William Nelson, Virginia Commonwealth University

Reflecting on the culmination of another academic year, I'm compelled to take a moment to share some reflections and express my heartfelt gratitude. By the end of this academic year, I had the immense honor of being re-elected as the Senate & Assembly Chair at Hawaii Pacific University for a second term. I am filled with gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in me. This opportunity to continue serving our esteemed faculty is a responsibility I cherish deeply. In higher education, shared governance isn't merely a concept—it's a cherished principle, ensuring every voice is heard and valued. Through inclusive decision-making, we tap into the collective wisdom to drive positive change and foster excellence. During my first term as the Faculty Senate & Assembly Chair at HPU, I've seen firsthand the transformative power of inclusive leadership and collaborative decision-making. By embracing diverse perspectives and fostering open dialogue, we can tackle challenges, seize opportunities, and advance the missions of our institutions. For me, Shared Governance is not just a concept; it's a guiding principle that I hold dear. Coming from the smallest college within our university, receiving re-election for a second term holds profound significance for me. Being elected by colleagues from all colleges and disciplines represents more than just an appointment by a superior—it speaks to one's character, leadership, and dedication to the collective faculty voice. It speaks volumes about the trust and respect my peers have placed in my leadership, transcending college boundaries. It's a testament to the value they see in my leadership approach and commitment to shared governance, proving that hard work and dedication know no bounds. This reaffirms the principles of inclusion and opportunity that drew me here. I'm deeply grateful for and humbled by the trust and confidence bestowed upon me, and I remain committed to serving my colleagues with integrity, empathy, and unwavering dedication. It's a responsibility I cherish deeply. #Leadership #HigherEducation #SharedGovernance #FacultySuccess #HPU #Gratitude #TeamWork #InclusiveExcellence
