Your employment should be based on mutual respect. If you don’t get it, get out. Everyone deserves to be respected.

I have one more question. What can an employee do when you apply for a position at your former place of employment and you get turned down for some crazy reason or another (even though you know you have experience at that place of employment?) What if that place of employment was your last option?

Fairness is important in the employment environment. If you know who to hire, why advertise the employment wasting other people's time, resources and emotions. Nepotism at employment environment is disadvantaging other people to get job opportunities even though they are qualified and have necessary experience.
