🌍 Last week, the first in person Principal Meeting of the NZECA was successfully held at University of St. Gallen - HSG in the margin of the IfTI Symposium, bringing together senior leaders from Cesce, Export Development Canada | Exportation et développement Canada, Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, EKN Exportkreditnämnden, SEK Svensk Exportkredit, UK Export Finance, Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), and Export credit agency of Kazakhstan KazakhExport. This gathering was a crucial step in solidifying our collective commitment to the Net Zero Export Credit Agency Alliance. 🤝 We're excited to share that we've secured a strong commitment to develop a target-setting protocol for the Alliance, with an ambitious goal of having it ready by COP29. As we continue our efforts, we're optimistic about welcoming new members to the NZECA family. 🌱 All current members are working diligently to implement their commitments, and we hope our progress will inspire other ECAs and public international finance institutions to set their own net zero targets. 📸 The photo below captures the participants of the whole Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) Symposium 2024, not just NZECA members. However, we aspire to grow the NZECA Alliance to a similar size in the near future 😉. 👏 Thanks to Tim Reid, Mairead Lavery, Magnus Montan, Anna-Karin Jatko, Christian Ølgaard, Mariane Søndergaard-Jensen, Beatriz Reguero Naredo, Raja Al Mazrouei, Ayan Bektybayeva, Usher, E. and last but not least Andreas Klasen together, we can drive meaningful change towards a sustainable future. #NZECA #NetZero #Sustainability #ExportCredit #PublicFinance #COP29

ESPO is proud to be one of the 13 European Associations signing the Joint Declaration, which charts a course towards a resilient, competitive, and sustainable future for our sector. This collaborative effort underscores the critical role that both public and private sector actors play in shaping the future of European maritime and inland waterways. Our sector is the backbone of Europe's trade and economy, handling a staggering 90% of international trade. With 81% of the EU's external trade and 40% of internal trade carried by maritime shipping, it's clear that our work is fundamental to Europe's prosperity. The Joint Declaration emphasizes the need for coordinated action to address challenges such as regulatory uncertainty and competition from third countries. By focusing on resilience, competitiveness, and creating a level playing field, we can ensure that the European waterborne transport sector remains a global leader in innovation and sustainability. Eero Lehtovaara, Chair of the Waterborne TP board of Directors, rightly points out the importance of cooperation between different segments of our sector. We must work together to navigate the transition to a greener, more resilient future. As part of our commitment to this effort, ESPO will continue to engage with stakeholders and shape research priorities through WaterborneTP . If you're interested in joining us in this journey towards a greener, more competitive future for European waterborne transport, reach out to Jaap Gebraad, Secretary General of Waterborne TP. The press release is available here: https://lnkd.in/dim-CzyH Let's set sail towards a brighter future for European waterborne transport together! ⚓🚢 #ESPO #EUtransport #Sustainability
