Check out this in-depth post-election analysis my colleagues and I wrote covering what can be expected from Trump on Day 1, Trump's cabinet picks, key changes in Congress, the fate of the Inflation Reduction Act, the future of permitting reform, and policy areas for bipartisanship. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you would like to discuss any of these areas more in-depth.
What’s next for America’s energy future? - Trump Administration: Plans to expand oil and gas production while pursuing an all-of-the-above energy agenda, including clean energy, to meet rising U.S. electricity demands. - 119th Congress: A Republican majority may drive fossil fuel policies but could find bipartisan support for nuclear, geothermal, hydropower, and permitting reform to strengthen the nation’s energy portfolio. Balancing traditional and clean energy sources could power a united path forward. Learn more here. https://lnkd.in/gaXS-XGj

Another great piece of data mapping by Visual Capitalist around Global Energy mix 🔋🔌 🏭 Despite efforts to decarbonize the economy, fossil fuels still accounted for over 80% of the global energy mix in 2023. 💨🔆Renewables’ share of total primary energy consumption reached 14.6%, an increase of 0.4% over the previous year. Together with nuclear, they represented roughly 19% of total primary energy consumption. 🌎 📈 Although energy production is one of the 'easiest' sector to decarbonise based on technology maturity, there is still a lot to do... Of all the energy events, fairs, and conferences I’ve attended during the past years, Financial Times’ Energy Transition Summit has the most to offer. The holistic view (including o&g and nuclear) and breadth of technologies, industries, geographies and opinions FT manages to bring in is something that usually lacks from these events. Energy and especially energy transition requires multiple technologies and it is a clear case of co-opetition where developers, contractors, operators, governments, etc. need to understand and appreciate each other to get things done. #RenewableEnergy #Energytransition #FTEnergy

Decarbonization and the energy transition pose challenges across several dimensions for decision-makers in government and industry. Second, the private sector will be faced with making investment decisions in a complex and uncertain environment. Forecasts that illustrate the range and probability of energy market outcomes will be necessary inputs to industry decision making. The power sector and industry broadly will have to decide, for example, where and when to install carbon capture, switch to hydrogen or ammonia fuels, invest in nuclear, or take the plunge into new industrial manufacturing technologies such as low carbon integrated steel processes. European Power Greener Than Ever! In the first half of 2024, renewables surpassed 50% of total power generation in Europe. - Eurelectric’s ELDA data platform reports that 74% of EU electricity came from renewable and low-carbon sources. - Nuclear power provided a stable share of 24%. - Despite impressive supply-side growth, power demand remains low due to sluggish economic growth and deindustrialisation. - Eurelectric calls for a robust Electrification Action Plan to stimulate demand and ensure continued investments in clean energy. #RenewableEnergy #CleanPower #SustainableFuture #EUClimateTargets #RE24
