For the Data Science Internship at CodeClause, i've been given my 2nd task, which is a Machine Learning project to predict the Employee Attrition in a company. This is part of HR Analytics. HR analytics, also known as talent analytics, people analytics, or workforce analytics, entails the systematic collection and analysis of Human Resource (HR) data to enhance organizational workforce performance. This method correlates routinely collected HR data with organizational objectives, providing empirical evidence of how HR initiatives contribute to overarching goals and strategies. Despite the availability of routine data in most organizations, specialized HR analytics is imperative due to its capacity to extract actionable insights. Simply possessing raw data is akin to having an extensive spreadsheet of numbers and words without discernible meaning. Through organization, comparison, and analysis, HR analytics elucidates crucial insights, addressing inquiries such as: - Patterns in employee turnover - Time taken for employee recruitment - Investment required for employee productivity - Prediction of employee attrition - Evaluation of learning and development program efficacy Final Remarks: After analyzing the data, the following observations have been inferred: 1. Early Career Transition: Individuals often switch jobs early in their careers or during the initial stages. However, once they establish stability, such as starting a family or achieving job security, they tend to remain with the same organization, typically seeking vertical advancement within. 2. Impact of Compensation: Compensation packages, including salary and stock options, significantly influence employee retention. Higher pay and more extensive stock options correlate with greater employee loyalty and reduced turnover rates. 3. Work-Life Balance: Work-life balance emerges as a pivotal motivator for employees. Paradoxically, individuals with satisfactory work-life balance may still seek better opportunities and enhanced standards of living elsewhere. 4. Influence of Departmental Dynamics: Departments emphasizing performance targets, such as Sales, exhibit higher turnover rates compared to those with a more administrative focus, such as Human Resources. 5. Job and Environment Satisfaction: Job satisfaction and positive work environments foster organizational loyalty. Conversely, dissatisfaction with current projects often prompts employees to seek opportunities elsewhere, leading to increased turnover. Requiem for the entry-level job... Most business efficiency innovations in the past 20 years have eliminated responsibilities (and learning opportunities) for entry-level junior hires. In the 90s, it was the rise of online search. In the 00s, it was the shift to off-shoring. In the 10s, it was the shift to the cloud and the gig economy. Now, with the shift to AI, it's happening at a blinding pace. Yes, AI is reducing the need for headcount, so... where will new heads go? Yes, AI is helping businesses make decisions, so how will young professionals gain judgment and true expertise? Are we going to see more people in post-graduation 'internships' rather than real full-time jobs? More people going straight to grad school from undergrad? Expanded rotational programs in big corporates? Someone please figure this out before my daughter looks for a job in 2042.
