Hello everyone, good morning! ☀️ I recently watched a GREAT chat between Mo' Ekujumi and Cyrus Harbin, where they discussed building a product, "From $100k To A Million Dollars Year In Tech." It was brought up a statistic that only 3% of the tech workforce in Canada is Black. This really blew my mind! So, I decided to dig deeper and do some research on this topic. 🕵️♂️ - Link for they talk here - > https://lnkd.in/eNEhhKNS Through my research, I discovered a significant underrepresentation of Black professionals and Latinos in these STEM fields, if you don’t know what STEAM is, academic and professional disciplines in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Anyway, motivated by my findings, I wrote a blog post about what I learned. I hope you all find it insightful and thought-provoking. 🤨 🤨🤨🤨 Please check it out and drop a comment below with your thoughts! 💬 https://lnkd.in/eTTtzZTC Data source : Obsidi® #BlackCANSTEM #LatinosInSTEM #DiversityInTech #InclusiveGrowth #ClosingTheNetworkGap

"For years, I did not complain.....it turns out, not complaining doesn't change anything..." John Leguizamo is one of our community's best voices; he is not afraid to call out unfair representation, nor is he an apologist who accepts the excuse of blaming the pipeline, especially from the institutions that are the pipeline. As we are in Latino Heritage Month, we should consider what we can do to change the gatekeeping that continues to limit our representation at universities, in big tech, and financial services, including capital allocation and investing. Representation is not about telling our story to motivate others to work harder or be more patient so that they, too, might be one of the lucky few 'chosen' ones. No, representation is about using our voices and access to make a world where our children, and everyone's children, are not expected to work harder or be more perfect than others for the same opportunities—where Latinos and others are represented in fair numbers. At LBAN/Latino Business Action Network, we partner with Stanford University Graduate School of Business and invest in research to tell the truth about Latino entrepreneurship. Our goal is not only to change the narrative about Latinos but also to improve the external entrepreneurial ecosystem for Latinos and everyone else. We can be the people that, as we lift up our community, we can lift our country for everyone. #Latinoheritage, #representation, #changethegatekeeping, #fairness
