Being responsible for other people as a leader is crazy difficult. Especially, when you operate in an industry, that doesn’t have a single focus in priorities. Healthcare is a good example. Operating in healthcare is (should be?) about patients first. People first. But then of course, in case of private healthcare, it’s also about the money. Even if it’s government funded it’s still about the money, just not profit, but cost savings. How to build proper organization culture in such an ambiguous environment? Warner Thomas, president of Sutter Health emphasizes how transparency in communication and clear priorities set the right pace for the whole company. When we focus on patients, that solves many challenges and doubts in how to address certain problems. As a leadership need to know, what is the most important thing for your company. How do you define success. If you know that then people can get behind that idea and be inspired by it. I recommend the #HealthcareExecutivePodcast by American College of Healthcare Executives to you to learn about the mechanics of building culture within the healthcare company. #cultureinhealthcare #organisationculture
