The moment you hate the most is... ...when a subscriber turns off his auto-renewal. Now he is at a risk-of-churn status. There could be lots of reasons for cancellation. What helps is implementing a survey that gets triggered at the moment of cancellation, so you can understand and take action based on what users tell you. Have each alternative linked with a counter measure. 1. Too expensive --> Discount, Pause 2. No need atm --> Downgrade, Tell them what they are about to lose 3. No Value --> Thats a bad one, you need to go back to the drawing board It's 100x easier to retain a user who has disabled his auto-renewal while he is still in the loop and has only 1 day in his subscription than winning back the same user 1 day later, after his subscription has terminated.
