Fellow Craft Beer Lovers and celebrators of Easter.... did you know that Easter and brewing beer have historical connections, particularly in Europe. Here are some facts you about the upcoming holiday and how it relates to beer! Easter Beer Tradition: In medieval Europe, brewing beer was often associated with Easter festivities. Monasteries brewed special beers for Easter celebrations, as it was a time of feasting and rejoicing after the fasting period of Lent. Lenten Restrictions: During Lent, Christians traditionally abstained from consuming meat and dairy products, but they were allowed to drink beer, which was considered a liquid food. Thus, brewing beer became an important activity during this time. Bock Beer: Bock beer, a strong lager of German origin, is often associated with Easter. It was historically brewed by German monks to sustain them during their Lenten fasts. Bock beers are still commonly brewed and enjoyed during the Easter season. Spring Brewing: Easter falls during the spring season in the Northern Hemisphere, which historically marked the beginning of the brewing season. As the weather warmed, brewers could ferment and condition their beers more effectively, leading to a surge in beer production. Symbolism: Like many aspects of Easter, brewing beer has its own symbolic significance. Beer, with its transformative process of fermentation, can symbolize renewal and new life, fitting themes for Easter celebrations. Share these facts and like it if you crave more beer facts! #beer #beerstagram #beergeek #beerfacts #easter #easterbeer

Despite the proliferation of lesser-known beer styles, the IPA remains the king of craft. Reports estimate … … its hold on the craft-beer market at around 26% — more than any other craft beer style. However, the regional, small-batch beers that first put the IPA on the map — ya know, your Pliny the Youngers and Heady Toppers, remain totally inaccessible to beer drinkers unwilling to traverse the country or trade rare suds on the dark net. Or Reddit 🥴 The good news is that you no longer have to. Especially, if it’s simply a tasty IPA you’re after. Beer distribution improves every year, and grocery stores around country are now stocking IPAs that would impress EVEN the most snobbish among us. Don’t look at me 😶 Here are more than a dozen favorites you can find pretty much anywhere. Stout popularity soars to make it Britain’s fastest growing beer! Stout has become so popular again that it is now the fastest growing beer variety in the UK. In the last year volume demand for the malty, full-bodied, dark beer with a creamy head has grown by 35% at Tesco. Historically, Irish stout, including Guinness, dominated the British beer market for well over a century, but towards the end of the 20th century it saw a decline in popularity because of the arrival, from Europe, of lager. It’s back in demand now with a wide variety of craft brewers bringing some interesting beers with real character and a whole variety of flavours to market. Brew Dog’s stout, Black Heart, is Tesco’s most popular after Guinness. In the UK, Guinness is becoming the best-selling beer in both the on-trade (bars and pubs) and off-trade (retail) markets. You can even enjoy the quality of a pub-drawn pint at home now with the Nitrosurge device launched by Guinness. The innovative technology allows you to pour the perfect pint at home when used with Nitrosurge cans. What’s next in this competitive market? #ukbeerindustry #craftbeer

The U.S. craft beer and beer market, generally, has “shifted”. But not for the reason normally reported … In the U.S., the Mexican-styled beer market has literally exploded since the pandemic. Hence, Mexican-styled beers — as well as tequilas — have been occupying U.S. liquor stores, grocery and CStores — more too — shelf space for years. As well as space in my “beer cellar” for years. In fact, my lower-level ‘beer cellar’ has expanded and grown over the past 10 years to include rare beers and craft beers from the U.S., Mexico, Bavaria, Germany, The Czech Republic, Belgium, areas surrounding Abbeys all throughout Europe, Japan, China and many other countries and regions. Additionally, it now includes Tequilas, Mezcals, Bourbons, Whiskeys, Scotches, Cognacs and Armagnacs and more, as well as wines from regions of France, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Canada, Brazil, Bolivia, and the Napa, Sonoma and Willamette valleys, and many more as well. My cellar is now 12’ X 12’ with room to expand. Recently, I was admitted to the hospital and spent 5 days fighting several types of Pneumonia. After my release, and confirmation I was not contagious, two of my best friends from New York insisted on keeping their flights to visit me in Florida. Still taking antibiotics, and told to not drink alcohol during the duration of the medication, was I prepared to not enjoy a few frosty beers with my dearest buddies in town? The announcement that Best Day Brewing secured over $22M in funding to fuel “more growth in the non-alcoholic beer space” led me to explore my alternatives for this typically debaucherous weekend... 1- Athletic Brewing Co. I don’t even view ABC as a “non-alc beer” brand, but rather a staple in the beer aisle. Great work! 2- The HEINEKEN Company 0.0. With only 69 calories per can, I felt no guilt in enjoying the tasty beer without the hint of a buzz. In my opinion, this brand’s marketing was among the absolute best, and I never feel self-conscious holding a bottle/can in my hand. 3- Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Non-Alcoholic Trail Pass Golden Ale. Easy-drinking with a hint of citrus and the perfect amount of hoppiness. 4- The Boston Beer Company, Sam Adams Just The Haze IPA. Grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas without the heaviness typically found in a New England IPA. Cheers to the #beer industry for adapting and addressing constantly evolving consumer demands! #nonalc #trends #grateful

Berkeley Yeast Fresh strains make cleaner tasting beer that judges and beer drinkers prefer. Until now, brewers have relied on imperfect methods for reducing total diacetyl, a distracting off-flavor that can impact quality at even very low levels. Diacetyl rests are shortened, beer is packaged sooner, fewer forced tests are required, and above all, your customers will enjoy a beer that’s so fresh and so clean. -- Read their Fresh Chico story featuring North Park, Dust Bowl, Resident Culture, Riip, and Fireforge, and learn how these breweries are using Fresh Chico to give their GABF and WBC winning beers and edge. https://lnkd.in/gAxherWy #ad

In a brewing industry where hops are driving most of the conversation in terms of newer, more compelling flavours in beer, in my new feature for Craft Beer & Brewing I investigated the growing trend of breweries turning to heritage malt varieties so as to explore new dimensions of flavour in their own beers. I spoke to several brewers, including Toby Mackenzie at RedWillow, Danny Tapper at Beak and Gareth Young at Epochal, plus Alison Milne at Crafty Maltsters and Dr. David Griggs at Crisp Malt to find out how breweries are using these heritage malting barley varieties, what kind of results they're getting from them, and who's interested in drinking them. You can read the answers to those questions here: https://lnkd.in/ge6PsiSk
