Jackson Hole Wyoming AP recycling lineup. Honest. Bottled, cans, glass, cardboard and newspapers. ✅ The rest is landfill. Good visuals. And clear instructions. Single ask. Jackson Hole Airport Board add a composter into the lineup. My coffee cup this am was compostable. If making the effort on the front end. Makes sense to make the effort on the back end too. #nobullshit #recycledmaterials #reducewaste #wyoming Alan Isenberg, CFA. We briefly touched on how as individuals we can contribute to our community. Trash reduction in what arguably is one of the nicest corners of the US, with all this natural beauty abound, would make a lot of sense; to help spearhead an alliance for promoting waste less solutions and practicess across all sectors. For example, various Greek islands participate in the no plastic allowed initiatives. #noplastic Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa

As we head into the holidays, a reminder: recycling as much as possible will help reduce your trash bill while keeping trash volumes low. The City of Fayetteville operates a pay-as-you-throw trash program. Each year, residents with curbside service receive four extra trash bag pick-ups to use throughout the year. Once these have been used, households will be charged $8.39 for each additional bag pick-up. Carts with an open lid due to overflowing trash bags count as an extra bag and will incur a charge for each occurrence. To learn what is recyclable in Fayetteville, go to: https://lnkd.in/g2PdefFx

The number of households that participate in the Covington curbside recycling program has grown tremendously in the last eight years. Here are the numbers by neighborhood. Numbers represent the percentage of households who contract for trash pickup that also use a recycling cart. Notice that every single neighborhood has increased over this period. The recycling program carries no additional cost beyond the annual trash collection fee. In all, some 2,410 tons of recyclable material was diverted from landfills in Fiscal Year 2024. #recycling #CovRecycles #CovingtonRecycles #recyclingprogram

“One time-consuming dream of theirs is a circular economy where everything is reused.” 🤔 “But people don’t want to. You’re asking them to do things they don’t want to do.” 🙄 I’m generally appreciative of Stossels reports that take a critical look at some widely accepted narratives that just aren’t true. Even in this case, I’m glad he’s shining a light on plastics recycling which many people still think is an effective way to dispose of plastic. What I think is odd, is his simple dismissal of circularity and characterizing it as some crack pipe dream. Is it impossible to believe that we can adopt better habits by saving and reusing a lot of what we currently throw away? I think he would agree that it is both economically responsible and environmentally positive to save and conserve resources that can be put to a beneficial use over and over again. Years ago, my wife started carrying around a reusable water bottle and made sure the kids each had one too. She never made a pronouncement of why she was doing it or forced any of us to do the same, she just did it. A while back we were chatting and she mentioned that she thought plastic water bottles were wasteful so that’s why she started carrying around a reusable one. I don’t think it’s too much to ask people to adopt good habits. And I think most people are willing to adopt new habits, even if they are a little inconvenient at first if it improves their lives. Off the top of my head I can think of exercise, healthy food, safe practices, all sorts of things we ask people to do that require effort but are worth the investment. This is why I think composting food waste is such an easy ask. The benefits to our health are endless by keeping food waste out of landfills and getting it back into the soil where it belongs. 🙌

Plastic Recycling is a "dead-end Street". - a famous quote by Greenpeace I've been faithfully recycling my trash for nearly 12 years, but this video made some good points. It doesn’t make sense for me to use water to clean these bottles—it actually releases more CO2 than just throwing them in the trash. The video also challenges the idea of whether landfills are worse than dumping plastic into the ocean.
