Is it feasible to develop and utilise standard lists of reasons for changes in participant involvement in trials? Great session on participant retention and follow up at #ICTMC2024 , including work by Will Cragg at Leeds Clinical Trials Research Unit (Leeds CTRU) reviewing case report forms from a range of clinical trials units (including MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL) to explore current practice for collecting data about participants changing their level of involvement in trials. #clinicaltrials #missingdata

It's been great to lead on this report - the 2024 ABPI report on the status of UK industry clinical trials. While there are some welcome signs that delivery of industry clinical trials in the UK is improving there is clearly more progress to be made. We've made a series of six clear recommendations that would build on this momentum to further improve the UK competitiveness for industry clinical trials delivery.
Our latest annual report on UK industry clinical trials is out! It's a mixed review with phase II and III trials seeing an increase, phase I with a decrease, and participants in interventional trials down. Overall, the UK's position is improving, and we have six recommendations to continue that improvement. Read more: https://bit.ly/49urBSd

Progress. We still have a long way to go to be as effective, inclusive and wide ranging as we're able to be. That change will include agility of trial units for variety of trials which can be considered, pace to open a trial to allow maximum time for UK participants to be recruited, capacity to offer the maximum number of patients the opportunity to participate, further streamlining of central processes and maintenance of costs to remain attractive to external trial sponsors while allowing investment to maintain trial unit competitive function.
