To say it straight away: we welcome the Schenker sale.👍 It is the best thing that can happen to medium-sized, owner-managed logistics companies in Germany. It is to be expected that DSV - as with the Panalpina deal five years ago - will follow the corporate rationale of a listed company. What counts here is first and foremost the result. The Danes had already cut thousands of jobs during the takeover of Panalpina, top managers had to leave or have left. And: a system was imposed on customers that turned them into numbers from one day to the next. The takeover of DB Schenker suggests a similar approach, even if there are no plans for a clear-cutting, as the Group Management Board emphasises. According to data from Armstrong and Associates, the air cargo volume of the top 25 air freight forwarders in 2023 fell by 9.8% year-on-year, to 15.3 million tons. The top five companies are: Kuehne + Nagel (1st), DHL (2nd), DSV (3rd), DB Schenker (4th), and Sinotrans (5th).
