Alcoa is steadily working to promote and support a more sustainable #aluminum industry, which we demonstrate through our Environmental, Social, and Governance policies and practices. This Wednesday, our life cycle assessment manager Fernando Antoñanzas will be participating in RMI’s webcast, "Driving Decarbonization through Emissions Transparency: Stories from the Steel and Aluminum Industries" – from 9-10 a.m. MT. Register at the link below to learn more about what Alcoa is doing to decarbonize the aluminum sector, and how emissions transparency and carbon accounting can support corporate climate action. https://bit.ly/3TZgN7x

We talk about decarbonization on the steel industry. But first stop is circularity. At EUROSLAG 2024, in Bilbao these days, all stakeholders are talking about the current status of this side product. It was a great opportunity to introduce myself to colleagues from Tata Steel Nederland, like Hans Kobesen or Sander Everstein, while meeting once again old friends, today behind he organization, from SIDEREX - Cluster Association of the Steel Industry and Unión de Empresas Siderúrgicas (UNESID)

The game-changing technologies, which build on Beckers’ 18 years of pioneering work, can significantly reduce CO2 emissions and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), and enhance efficiency in the industry by providing up to twice the surface coverage per kilogram of paint. The European Coil Coating Association (ECCA) considers Radcure technology to be the most significant gamechanger in terms of decarbonization of the coil coating industry. At Adbri we understand the importance of rethinking, reimagining and reinventing solutions for the built environment. This relentless drive to meet the challenges of our time, has seen significant progress in the use of Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) across our product range. In 2023, we incorporated over 780,000 tonnes of SCMs into our products. SCMs such as slag, fly ash, limestone mineral addition and cement kiln dust. This has supported us as we decarbonise our products and operations in line with our 2050 net zero emissions goal. We’re on track in 2024 to achieve another strong performance in the use of SCMs as we take a stand for generations to come. What are SCMs? SCMs are materials that, when used alongside or in place of traditional cement, can enhance concrete’s durability, lower its environmental impact, and contribute to the circular economy by recycling industrial by-products. By using SCMs, we're able to reduce our reliance on clinker and make significant strides in lowering carbon emissions across our operations and products.

😱 Did anyone say new vessels?! 🌍 Last year, we introduced our Shaper Class vessels to the world, a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainable shipping. Today, we're thrilled to build on that momentum by announcing the addition of four more Shaper Class vessels to our fleet! This strategic move underscores our dedication to leading the charge toward a greener future for our industry. These 9,300 CEU methanol dual fuel vessels are designed to operate on alternative fuels like methanol and are ready for conversion to ammonia, aligning with our goal of net zero emissions by 2027. Our EVP & COO of Shipping Services, Xavier Leroi, says: “In partnership with our customers, we are accelerating towards a sustainable future. These vessels are crucial in our journey towards net zero.” This addition brings our tally to eight Shaper Class vessels on order with Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) and we couldn't be more excited to share this journey with you. Anticipate the arrival of these vessels between the second half of 2026 and November 2027, as we continue to lead the way in reducing emissions and setting new standards for our industry. Together, we are not only navigating toward a brighter future; we are actively creating it. #WalleniusWilhelmsen #Sustainability #Innovation

Leading the future... 🌳 🌍🚀 "Demand from customers for the fully verified carbon footprint of steel products is soaring. Across all sectors customers are requiring ever more granular detail on their supply chains, in order to deliver on their Net Zero and sustainability targets. This increased understanding is contributing to nothing less than a revolution in reducing the carbon impacts of steel products." Over the years, car companies have successfully used rPP in non-critical parts. Now, they're looking to replicate that success in other (more critical) parts. The problem? It's really hard to make recycled materials as strong and cost-effective as the virgin plastic traditionally used in parts with more stringent performance features. Until now that is. Working collaboratively with ExxonMobil, our teams developed a solution that makes it possible for rPP to perform at the standards the automotive industry demands. To learn how we did it (and see the results), download the case study here: https://brnw.ch/21wKIvw

Did you know? Your car depends on #permanentmagnets to keep you safe. They're in the brakes. They also power EV motors. These parts depend on #rareearths. #ReElement Technologies shares the news on their collaboration with POSCO to expand an efficient and sustainable rare earth supply chain.
