Whilst Australia is toying around the edges with a limited scalable solution for viable Green Steel, the world's largest Green Steelworks H2STEEL in Sweden is well under construction; it is a pathway to a sustainable carbon-free future no wonder two of the world's largest luxury vehicle manufacturers Mercedes Benz and BMW taking substantial equity in the new H2STEEL works its a guide to their future intentions to create a sustainable future H2STEEL has pre-sold billions of dollars of Green Steel before construction began. However, here in Australia, in Whyalla on the Upper Spencer Gulf Coastal City, an existing struggling Steelworks is in dire need of support. With limited Federal Government funding, the creation of a new Green Steel production capability, a potential GDP growth opportunity for Australia, is at stake. The urgency of this situation cannot be overstated. The Swedish Government's support of H2STEEL with billions of dollars underscores the urgency and importance of our collective role in this endeavor, the steel industry and environmental sustainability, plays a crucial part in shaping the future of Green Steel production in Australia. The future for Australia, instead of being a giant mining pit, is to value add; nearby Whyalla is one of the necessary ingredients to produce high-quality Green Steel products. Magnetite iron ore is an entire mountain range, and the middle-back ranges contain over 4bn Tonnes of magnetite iron ore. The shift to Green Steel presents new export opportunities for Australia's value-added manufacturers. Companies like South Korean and Japanese luxury vehicle manufacturers, who will need to adopt Green Steel to compete with Germany, stand to benefit economically. This transition is not just about sustainability, but also about unlocking new avenues for growth and prosperity, offering a promising future for Australia's economy. #Australia #GreenSteel #Superpower #MagnetiteIronore
What a difference a year can make! Last summer, work at the site of our green steel plant in Boden consisted mainly of groundworks and piling, with the first steel being raised in November. Since then, we have come a long way!

Vale is making a strategic pivot towards sustainable practices by ramping up the production of agglomerates, including briquettes and pellets. Their briquettes are poised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by up to 10% for steelmaking clients. What's more, it could address a critical gap in the market: using fines at DRI furnaces, facilitating a smooth transition to a greener steelmaking process. It sounds great, but will it work? you can find more details at WoodMac report "Green, yet Greater? Decoding Vale's briquette" via https://lnkd.in/eWve-YZj #greenSteel #Vale #Briquette #WoodMackenzie

With rheology we can link material properties to performance. For asphalt roofing shingles we are applying similar technology that we have learnt for paving grade binders but with a few differences linking ideas to increase the longevity of materials, with work supported by State Farm Insurance and the Asphalt Insitute Foundation. Increased longevity is all part of our society efforts for increased sustainability and resiliency in design. #rheology #asphalt
