The world of recruitment is ever-changing - are you keeping up? In my 15 years as a Management Consultant, I've seen trends come and go. But one thing remains consistent: attracting and retaining top talent is the backbone of any thriving business. Each time change sweeps in, I'm reminded that adaptability isn't just important in the people we recruit - it's necessary within us as HR professionals. What does a shift towards remote working mean for recruitment? How will the rise of AI transform our roles? There is no crystal ball that can give us these answers, but what we can do is prepare ourselves to meet these challenges head-on. As we navigate this terrain, let's remember the value of collaboration and knowledge sharing. The way forward in recruitment may be uncharted, but we are not alone. Stay determined, colleagues. Be open to change and willing to adapt. Our roles are evolving, yes - but together, we'll redefine what it means to be HR professionals in an ever-changing world. The future of recruitment awaits us - let's embrace it together.

Rapid growth & recruitment! I was recently invited to contribute to a session on rapid growth and its implications on recruitment. I realised that many believe that, the solution for rapid growth is simply filling roles quickly... I am going to share some of the considerations that we juggle, to ensure true success. I hope you find this useful too... 💥 Recruitment pressure: how do we limit the pressure on the recruiting teams, on processes, and limit compromises on talent quality, for long-terme success? 💥 The employer's brand: rapid growth elevates a company's visibility, it also puts a spotlight on inconsistencies and negative experiences. How do we ensure the brand is not only preserved but elevated further? 💥 Process & automation: what can we leverage for the volume required, to respond to the market and internal limitations? What is working now and will no longer suit very soon? And how do we prepare a transition to new ways of operating? 💥Onboarding challenges: how do we ensure a seamless integration of the new recruits, without overwhelming internal resources? 💥 Global talent reach: we may need to recruit from different locations, how do we adapt to local realities, legislations, and sensitivities? 💥 Culture & diversity: rapid growth has a great impact on a company's culture. From a recruitment standpoint, how do we prevent cultural dilution or fragmentation? Rapid growth is also a great opportunity to build a more diverse workforce; how do we balance both without sacrificing one for the other? In a rapidly growing company, growth is accelerated with TALENT (speed), but long-term success is sustained with the RIGHT TALENT (power). It's just not about filling roles quickly... Good luck everyone, I hope this is useful. #sylviambemba

A lot of talk these days about how Talent Acquisition is evolving given changes in workforce dynamics, societal shifts, and available software. We've been bombarded by so many technologies that hope to convince us that the solution is having a utopian consolidated HR platform. There are numerous discussions and debates on how the landscape of TA will change through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. And then there are various products that focus on automation and improved processes to move candidates along. Oh, and don't forget about Recruiters being fully remote and that it doesn't matter where they are. Yes, TA is changing and will continue to evolve, but please don't discount the intrinsic nature of what recruiters do and the joy they experience from it. Especially these days, I implore TA teams to: talk more, advise more, connect more. That's why our team carved out time to think about how our Recruiters and Sourcing Specialists could enhance their craft. Yes, you read that right: a blend of art and science to evolve for the purpose of being more impactful to our Hiring Managers, the employees we want to retain and develop, and the external candidates we want to hire. We want to raise the level of our service to a place where we've never been before. True value add. That's why we started the year off right by holding a Strategic Talent Advisor workshop to reposition our approach and way of thinking. We also encourage members of our team to host tailored in-person Recruitment Events. Finally, just as important, we come together as a team every now and then to celebrate each other (good excuse for impromptu cupcake party 🎂). My point: don't forget the human element of Talent Acquisition. Chatbots and virtual assistants are nice, but I don't consider Siri a dear friend. Special thanks to Ben Gotkin, Matt Grove, and John Vlastelica.

#Recruitment challenges can vary depending on the industry, location, economic conditions, and organizational characteristics. However, some common recruitment challenges are as follows: #Talent shortage: In certain industries or for certain skill sets, there may be a shortage of qualified candidates. #Competition: Companies are often competing for the same talent, which leads to problems attracting top candidates, especially if competitors offer better compensation or benefits. #Candidate experience: A positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process is critical. Poor communication, lengthy recruitment processes, and a lack of feedback can put off potential candidates and damage the employer's reputation. #Diversity and inclusion: Achieving diversity and inclusion goals can be challenging. Many organizations struggle to attract and retain a diverse workforce, which is essential for innovation and competitiveness. #Employer branding: Companies with a strong employer brand have an advantage in attracting top talent. However, building and maintaining a positive employer brand requires continuous effort and investment. #Remote working: The shift towards remote working has changed the dynamics of recruitment. Companies need to adapt their recruitment processes to accommodate remote working and attract candidates who are familiar with this way of working. #Mismatched qualifications: There may be a mismatch between the skills employers are looking for and the skills job seekers have. This may be due to rapid technological advances or changing requirements in the industry. #Retention: Recruiting top talent is only half the battle; retaining them is just as important. High turnover rates can be costly and disrupt business operations. #Budget constraints: Limited budgets for recruiting activities can impact the ability to attract and hire top talent. Companies must find cost-effective strategies to reach and attract candidates. Overcoming these challenges often requires a multi-faceted approach that includes strategies such as proactive talent sourcing, improving the candidate experience, investing in employer branding, promoting diversity and inclusion, and continuously evaluating and refining recruitment processes.

Discovering skilled individuals can be challenging in any circumstance, but it's been particularly tough since the global pandemic. Various sectors and businesses are having difficulty locating competent & motivated staff, while others are battling with issues like high interest rates and salary growth, leading to a need for cost reduction. An effective strategy could be for businesses to employ cross-border recruitment to widen their pool of talent. In this age of remote working, it is often more feasible to recruit beyond the company's local geographic area. For some businesses, this means hiring from other countries! Nevertheless, cross-border hiring comes with its unique sets of hurdles, including dealing with different laws and cultural aspects. That's where professionals such as myself come in... Get in touch and start a conversation with me about how you can meet your business's goals and objectives with an international workforce. #crossborder #internationalrecruitment #eurecruitment #recruiters
