Here's everything I learned distilled into one post: 1. Time is precious. Cherish every moment with loved ones. 2. Quality of life isn't just about health—it's about comfort, love, and respect. 3. Caregivers need support too; it's okay to ask for help. 4. End-of-life care is a journey, unique to each individual. 5. Communication is key. Talk openly about needs and wishes. 6. Cultural and spiritual needs deeply matter. Honor them. 7. Acceptance can bring peace to patients and families. 8. Creating memories is just as important as medical care. 9. Our hospice provides personalized, compassionate support. 10. It's important to normalize end-of-life conversations. 11. Everyone's end-of-life care should feel safe and understood. If this resonated with you, please share or comment your thoughts. When you hear the word “hospice”, what do you think of? Serious question here, comment with your answer. I can think of so many positive words, but I still hear people associate negative words when discussing hospice care. This causes a delay in end of life planning and care. How do we “flip the script” and the mindset surrounding the word “hospice”? My wish this holiday season is that we start discussing quality of care with our families and patients. This conversation would include conversations about advanced care planning and end of life wishes. #hospice #endoflifecare #quality
