The best thing you can do when you are listening to your coachee explain a situation is to WAIT. W. A. I. T., as in, consider Why I Am Talking? That’s right; putting your two cents in right away is not always necessary. ✅ The coachee should be talking at least 75% of the time. ✅ The coach should be listening. 🤔 So, what do we listen for? Most situations are like icebergs, with only 10 percent actually appearing above the water. What a coachee describes may often represent only the tip of their total situation. We want to listen to the many different layers beyond the surface. - Listen for emotions displayed through tone, energy, and body language - Listen for patterns of behavior and try to see the big picture. - Listen to understand underlying beliefs and thinking. Challenge your urge to talk 🗣 and focus your efforts on better listening skills👂 🖥 Join us TODAY, May 30, at 1 pm ET for our webinar Coaching: The Skill Anyone Can Learn and Everyone Needs: https://lnkd.in/gYcCF2JM #ZengerFolkman #Webinar #Coaching #LeadershipDevelopment
