"BUILD ME UP, BUTTERCUP" BY MATT-Q https://lnkd.in/gmZEudPy I was inspired to sing this song, partly. because I know one of my student's pet dog is named "Buttercup" :) "Build Me Up Buttercup" is a classic pop song by "The Foundations", written by Mike d'Abo and Tony Macaulay. Released in late 1968, the song became a significant hit and remains a popular tune from the late 1960s. "The Foundations" was a British soul band formed in 1967. They were one of the few racially integrated bands in the UK at the time, featuring both black and white members.Being a racially integrated band, it represented part of a broader movement towards greater acceptance and integration within the music industry and society at large. The late 1960s was characterized by heightened Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union. Events like the Vietnam War, the Prague Spring, and the arms race dominated international relations. During this period, cultural products, including music, were often used as tools of soft power by both the United States and the Soviet Union. Western pop music, in particular, was seen as a symbol of freedom and democracy, often contrasting with the more controlled cultural expressions in the Eastern Bloc. Western pop music, including songs like "Build Me Up Buttercup," was widely disseminated through radio and television, both of which were influential mediums during the Cold War. These songs often reached audiences behind the Iron Curtain, offering them a glimpse of the perceived freedom and vibrancy of the West, which underscores the prevalence of mass media as a propaganda tool; which is even much more so in today's context. Music became a crucial outlet for expressing the hopes, frustrations, and ideals of the younger generation. Songs with catchy, optimistic melodies like "Build Me Up Buttercup" provided a form of escapism and a sense of unity amidst the turmoil. Personally, the song serves as a poignant reminder for me on how integrity, character and the heart are so pertinent in the formation of an individual's identity. #buildmeupbuttercup #thefoundations #matthewqueksingapore #coldwar #propaganda #reliability

You're just as bad as the other lot! University of Oxford /cf/ University of Cambridge - when we speak, we're supposed to make sense. -*- What does Merry Christmas mean? We hope you Enjoy Christmas? Enjoy what about Christmas? Presumably something to do with the birth of Jesus? What if the secret to the enjoyment of life was revealed today? Christmas day is a celebration of Evolutionary Emergence. Something appearing from nothing - as described by #VB (Virgin Birth). How can understanding evolutionary emergence (as demonstrated by Jesus on his birthday) help people to enjoy this (to have a Merry Christmas) and EVERY (to live happily ever after) other day? The realisation that the exact same process of emergence may occur within the human mind (through Learning what is loved) - to give rise to the '#VB' in context of an individual's quality. To become an unprecedented better (hence '#VB') than we were just momentarily a priori. The gift of Christmas is to teach us that the ENTIRE basis to reality is in Emergence. Emergence may occur within an abstraction layer (for instance in the development of mind in understanding /or/ art as we get better in both) - or it can happen, essentially similarly - in the transition between abstaction layers (species) - as we see today albeit several thousand years away.
Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating! 🎄 #MerryChristmas

A solid teamwork is fundamental for the success and sustained growth of a company. Collaboration and synergy among team members not only enhance operational efficiency but also foster creativity and innovation. A good team can address challenges more effectively, seize emerging opportunities, and adapt quickly to market changes. To drive the company's growth, it is crucial to: ✅ Invest in employees' professional development. ✅ Provide them with the necessary tools and resources. ✅ Foster an environment of trust and mutual respect. Recognizing and valuing the effort and commitment of each team member is essential to maintain motivation and strengthen the sense of belonging. Furthermore, promoting a culture of constructive feedback and acknowledging collective and individual achievements significantly contributes to keeping a motivated and engaged team aligned with the company's objectives. In summary, a good teamwork, like the one we have at SafeTec, is not only a competitive advantage but also a fundamental pillar for long-term growth and success in business. #Innovation #Technology #Teamwork

Have an attitude for gratitude! As we get closer to closing out this year, look back to what you set out to accomplish this year. Did you do it? Great if you did! But if you’re like the 90% of Americans who don’t accomplish their new year resolutions try to focus on the good! Did you set out to read 12 books this year but only read 7?? GOOD FOR YOU! That’s 7 books you didn’t read before. Did you set out to wake up at 5 am every but only do that for a few months? GOOD FOR YOU! That’s a lot of 5 ams you didn’t wake up for before! Think about all that you DID accomplish this year instead of focusing on what you did not. And better yet… As you make your goals for next year, use what you learned this year to help yourself stick to them in 2025. Go easy on yourself! We are getting better every day! Trusting an external consultant to come in with fresh eyes, and assess your business can be quite a daunting prospect. Your business is personal to you, you’ve put your heart and soul into it, but sometimes that’s your biggest obstacle. You are TOO close to it all to see what’s required to change and help you navigate the journey from A to B. That’s where I come in. Don’t believe me? Check out the lovely review/ testimonial I have just received from Michelle 🏡 Niziol - super successful business owner, after having worked with Michelle and her team over the course of about 6 weeks. Was it easy? No. Did she have to make some tough decisions? Yes. Was she alone? No. Did she have the answers already. Most definitely. But we worked together and devised the plan that gave her the confidence to move forward. Thanks for working with me Michelle and trusting me with your business. #culturecomesfirst #culturefirstapproach #optimiseyourbusiness #learninganddevelopment
