We hosted a Community Agency Lunch and Learn at our Pueblo Service Center on Oct. 1. Almost 20 attendees from different community agencies joined us for a conversation about Energy Assistance, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy programs and resources that help their organizations and our customers. Insight and feedback from the attendees will help us to better meet the needs of our community. This was a great partnership and networking opportunity, and we look forward to growing the concept in the future.

In 2023, CO2 emissions from the U.S. power sector fell by approximately 8%, driven by a shift from coal to natural gas and renewable energy sources. On PBS’ Energy Switch, Congressman Tim Ryan highlights natural gas as a pivotal tool for reducing carbon emissions domestically and globally, while enabling the expansion of renewable energy. He also emphasizes the importance of bipartisan collaboration in Washington to develop a balanced energy policy—one that lowers emissions while ensuring energy remains reliable and affordable for all consumers. The Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) is a government initiative aimed at increasing the share of renewable energy (RE) in the Philippines’ power generation mix to 35% by 2030, up from the current 22% in 2023. In July 2024, Department of Energy (DOE) announced that two green energy auctions would take place in the latter part of 2024, offering around 11,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity. The third auction (GEA-3) will focus on 3,000 MW, targeting geothermal, impounding hydro, and pumped-storage hydro projects. Meanwhile, the fourth auction (GEA-4) may include 8,200 MW. As for the industrial economic zones energy demands of its manufacturer locators, PEZA said it approved 179 projects amounting to P115.887 billion from January to September in 2024. This is higher than the P111.207 billion worth of investments cleared in the same period last year 2023. For the month of September alone in 2024, the PEZA approved 16 new (sixteen) and expansion projects expected to bring in P54.192 billion in investments, 285.87% (percent) higher than the P14.044 billion investments in the same month in 2023. The approved investments in September are expected to generate $541.04 million in exports and provide 4,044 new jobs for Filipinos. Of the 16 projects approved in September, eight are focused on export manufacturing, 5 (five) are in the information technology business process management sector, 1 (one) in facilities development, 1 (one) dedicated to ecozone logistics services and 1 (one) in ecozone development. The approved projects are expected to generate $2.513 billion in exports and create 35,871 direct jobs. There are three (3) Major Economic Indicators for the Philippines🇵🇭 in 2024. 1. The Philippines allows 100% foreign ownership of businesses in the manufacturing sectors. 2. With the Philippines🇵🇭 very young labor workforce population and an average median age of 25 years old, which is even five years younger compared to the ASEAN median age that averages at 30 years old, the country have a bigger economic potential! 3. The Philippines has a population of over 117 million Filipinos at the end 2023, making it the 13th. most populous country in the world. The Philippines🇵🇭 population in 2023 was 117,337,368 million Filipinos. Last Philippines population in 2022 was about 115,559,009 million.
