Today is a big day for BioWare! We want to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of our fans who have made this moment possible with this letter from our Studio. #DragonAge

  • On behalf of everyone at BioWare,

It's been nearly a decade since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition. The Dread Wolf's ritual nears its apex and, with the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, we're thrilled to once again welcome you back to Thedas. It's been a journey - and one whose every step was only possible because of the support of you, our fans. We cannot wait for you all to experience this latest chapter in the Dragon Age series.

Characters you love in stories worth telling - that's what BioWare does best. And you'll find no shortage of either in The Veilguard. What an adventure it's been getting here, with every single person who touched this game putting their heart and soul into making this game something special. So welcome back to Thedas, and from the bottom of our hearts - thank you.

Amazing visiuals and gameplay BUT! There is a but! I ignore the bad comments and reviews that are spread like nightmares on the internet and this is my own review. It has one of the the worst case of writing I've ever seen in a videogame. It feels like a cringe survival test most of the time. Where did the writing quality of the previous games disappear to? The sequel of a game that was first introduced as a role-playing game with versatile story options and amazing writing, should not have ended up like this. Leaving aside the absurdity of using terms and problems related to real life and today's problems in a medieval-inspired game that we play to escape reality and have fun, the way these elements are conveyed to the player is incredibly superficial and like a slap in the face. My opinion and that of many friends who played the game is that not only does it not resemble a Dragon Age sequel, but the writers have also included a lot of propaganda-like dialogue. Oddly enough, the writers themselves are the ones who do the most damage to the subjects they are propagandizing. I wish the game remained loyal to its essence.

As a fan of the saga from DA: origins till inquisition I can say that unfortunately this game wasn't that I consider a dragon age narrative. I know that companies try to seek new fans but it was way better to make a remake of the saga instead to mocking of the true fans.

i am around 25 hours played in the game and i don't care about woke and bla bla but only want to talk about the game. from dark fantasy now we are in a bright neon lights world. Desing of monsters is terrible, map design is poor and gameplay is barely sufficient. This is just a medium quality action with a splash of rpg mechanics. Rook starts without any sort of pg construction and dialogues are really terrible and zero deepness in the development of their companions. Clearly this game was built to be a gaas or an mmo. I really don't understand in the last years how managers gave green lights to games that are clearly not good. I am so sorry for the DA saga. 49 y.o gamers from commodore 64

Well, congratulations are in order as delivering AAA game from conception to production is an amazing feat. But as a fan of the series I am not excited and most probably will not be playing it unless some gameplay will convince me otherwise. Reason? This game seems childish in its visual style and narrative expression, lacking the epic and dark RPG feeling of its predecessors. Maybe I am getting too old and it is not really meant for me anymore, which I guess is fine.

I'm a huge Dragon Age fan and have played all the games repeatedly for years. I'm about 10 hours in game and have genuinely enjoyed it ! There are of course some minor things that I would have changed (like controlling companions and more decisions from previous games having an impact) But I genuinely don't understand the negative reviews of this game! It's great so far - even people complaining about how it's not as "dark" as previous game - in the first 2 hours I entered an entire blighted village! Its wild, I love the combat, the voice acting - how it looks! The throw back to DA2 and Varrics storytelling 🥰 Well done, truly!

Nice try Bioware, but it doesn't work, your attempts at controlling the narrative around this game and shutting down anyone with any opposing views will now shut you down. it's quite clear by now that this game will never cover more than half of its production costs. I wonder how it feels to waste 120-150 mil USD like this. Care to elaborate Bioware?

I'm close to 1/2 way through the story- about 25 hours in, just recruited all companions. I'm loving every second of it. I still can't believe I'm finally playing the new Dragon Age. DA: Inquisition is my favorite game of all time. And so far, The Veilguard is giving it a run for its money! Easily the best combat has ever been in the DA Universe! Thank you for the incredibly hard work from the Bioware team to give the true DA fans something to love! ❤️

I love Dragon Age. I love BioWare! But this entry to the series feels like it lost a lot of the essence of what the dark fantasy of DA was supposed to represent. Or at least what it represented in previous games. Everyone harps on the writing, with cause, it's pretty bad, but it doesn't stop there. Sound design, animation, UX/UI, level design.. It feels like there wasn't enough feedback from someone not involved. It feels like this needed more time. It feels like whoever worked on it hasn't even played a single Dragon Age game or read any DA book or comic or hasn't even flipped through a The World of Thedas book. I'm sorry, it's really harsh, but this is my favourite franchise, and it hurts to see this entry in the series. And it has nothing to do with "too woke"! You were pretty woke in Inquisition! But at least there you did it right. Think of Krem or Dorian or Iron Bull or Josephine, etc. You did it right before, but to me, you failed with this one. I know you can do better.

What happened BioWare Electronic Arts (EA)? Why didn't they make this game? This was the game the fans were waiting for, not Veilguard! There's still time to fix the game, Bioware will do it! Please remake the game, make this teaser game #Thedreadwolfrises? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZJPvKbUgOA

BioWare , thank you for attempting to deplatform me from LinkedIn for expressing my educated opinion on writing in your and many other recent AAA games. That was really professional!
