Last week I found myself at Madrid-Barajas Airport, waiting for my flight., watching people pass by without really seeing them, filling the minutes with random thoughts. I spotted a magazine nearby, so I picked it up to pass the time. Just as I was about to put the magazine down, the Daxing Airport in Beijing, China caught my eye, the largest airport ever built. Instantly, my mind wandered to the world’s biggest cargo airports. Shanghai Pudong, for instance, handles over 3.5 million tons of freight. With 40 square kilometers and nearly 1.49 million square meters dedicated to waiting areas and corridors, it’s a true titan of air freight. Shanghai Pudong is a cornerstone of our industry—a critical hub for Chinese cargo airports and air freight in China. If I were 20 again, I’d be learning Chinese and focusing on the air freight market in China. It’s a thriving business opportunity where time is everything. Next time you’re shipping to China, make sure to save time by choosing air freight. XPO is expanding its multimodal transport solutions with the launch of a new corridor between Antwerp, Belgium, and Istanbul, Turkey. Approximately 2,600 km long, the new route combines road and rail transportation methods, reducing transit time from ten days to eight compared to road transportation alone. This significantly enhances logistics capabilities between these pivotal trade hubs, enabling companies to move greater volumes of products between Belgium and Turkey. The new multimodal corridor also offers customers more regular service throughout the year, even in peak season, while also reducing road congestion. In addition to the rail and road route, XPO Logistics provides customers the option of combining short sea shipping and rail, with rail transit between Duisburg, Germany, and the port at Trieste, Italy, connecting to sea transit between Trieste and Izmir, Turkey. https://bit.ly/4cMNH3f #transport #road #rail #logistics
